I get the honest criticism about the game. As a MMO player, this game is nothing really new. For a lot of the players who came from a CoD/Halo mentality, it's an adjustment. They aren't used to having to grind anything.
I do think it's gotten "too" grindy right now. I'd like to see them scale back some of the currencies in order to simplify the process. Then again, Grinding is encouraged BIG time by Bungie in the game.
I'd just love to see a better story with actual character development. I'd love to see us explore the city. I'd love to see the factions with their interesting voice actors do something other than sell gear. I'd like to see someone like the Fallen try to burrow under the walls and start an invasion from there of the city. That would be one heck of a public event!

I'd like to see more story development in regards to the factions. Maybe a subplot for PvP like faction wars like there have been in previous MMO's. I think WoW had or has something like this for their PvP area's. The ability to explore the city would be fun like you said. I can envision Destiny 2 being something where the Fallen, Hive, Vex, Cabal, or even a greater threat attack the Last City in the opening sequence and you have to go from there. I think there are endless possibilities for future DLC and games. I hope they learn from their mistakes and triumphs for future installments to create an even better game.

Like it would be so freaking cool if the factions had specific goals in mind, and when you do X for one faction, you might have others that get mad at you. Like you get a "mark" for your faction. Opposing factions get bonus rep or something when they kill you in the Crucible... I get the feeling that when the lead story guy left a year out, he took most of his stuff with him and Bungie wasn't able to use it. In the infamous reddit post, the factions were supposed to be way more fleshed out. Frankly, the game seemed to be much larger in scope and scale, even with many of the same assets. I really think that Destiny is more of a beta for the technical ideas in the raids, the seamless partying, etc. I think that all of the bumps and bruises they are getting now ("the h8") is being applied to Destiny 2. If Destiny 2 is a repeat of Destiny just with new planets....I see it failing long before their 10 year goal.
