So this (Hopefully) will be the Husk of the Pit Thread.
Facts:
Husk of the Pit, is a common (white) Auto rifle.
It is a level 10 weapon.
As a 30 I was doing little more than 25-40 per shot, dont expect to kill things on par with you quickly, or even in one "clip" (not here to argue what Amunition goes into)
Can be upgraded into the legendary weapon "Eidolon Ally" through filling a progression Bar labeled "Cannibalism" by Hive Kills only, no other race will count, then using an "Enbalming Orb" obtained from Eris at Level 3 Reputation.
Is the only known white weapon that has a progression bar and can be upgraded.
Fun Fact: When equipped the icon by the ammo shows a Pulse rifle, but the menus say Auto rifle.
Drop Information.
It has been found so far by killing specially named Hive Knights called Blades of Crota.
It is not a Traditional Drop, such as an orb or pyramid, but a Raid style Drop, meaning it simply appears on your screen and in your inventory after the kill.
The Location of the Knights is irrelevant be it moon or earth, mission or patrol, any Blade of Crota will do.
A largely preferred strategy is to simply load the Level 24 difficulty of the Fist of Crota mission on earth, summon a sparrow, and bypass the starting enemies to reach the "Ritual" (Three Acolytes praying to a greenish orb) and kill the Blade of Crota that then spawns, return to orbit and Repeating until obtained. This strategy though easy, is time consuming, largely due to load times, and mentally taxing, due to many repeats of load screens, kills, and voiceovers (I might lose it myself if I have to hear about Sardon one more time).
Personally I gave up and got mine whilst out on patrol doing other bounties. So my suggestion is this: Stop for a bit, got get some fresh air, grab some bounties that you can do on patrol, and keep an eye out for the "The Minions of Crota have started a Ritual..." pop up right above your ammo. Thats what I did and it worked for me. Don't ignore the Blades of Crota and you should have your own Husk of the pit in no time.
Eidolon Ally:
The HOTP, just got older and wiser, and is now a legendary Auto Rifle. The magazine size expands to a whole 42, the attack rises to 272/324, and gains Cascade (melee kills increase reload speed for a short time) and Rangefinder (Aiming increases effective range). It also has a higher reload speed and a slightly increased impact. The much higher attack really helps versus the HOTP. It starts with Accurized Ballistics (impact & range over stability) then gains CQB Ballistics (stability over range & impact) and Aggressive Ballistics (impact & stability over range, also my preference). Following that column, you have Single Point Sling (Increased weapon swap and Aiming movement speed), Flared Magwell (Increased Reload speed), and finally Fitted Stock (Increased Stability). Bring Relic Iron for the Upgrade Party, and 12 Acendant Energy. Also you will need the Crux of Crota (Still assumed as a Hard Mode Only drop from Crota and Is (confirmed) an Exotic Material like Exotic Shards) and (assumed) another buttload of hive kills for the final upgrade node, called Burgeoning Hunger, for your Necrochasm.
Please leave, questions, comments or suggestions.

3 RepliesEdited by Stickiy: 1/7/2015 1:07:31 AMI have it. But Eris rank 3? House of Wolves will be obsolete by the time I get there. Also, just realized this was a bumped thread from Dec 22.

Got my first Husk after around my 60th Fist of Crota farm. Since then I've obtained 4 more in less than 40 kills O.o

Edited by bonsaihorn: 1/7/2015 1:03:37 AMI got it today as well... I wasn't even grinding for husk of the pit, I was going for the Eris reputation quests. I needed one more Hive kill with the Blade. Funny thing is someone beat me to the kill. Edit: Lol I never look at dates on threads...

1 ReplyFunny thing, I got caught up in the hype and spent too long trying to get this gun. Once I gave up on the grind yesterday and just set off to complete Eris bounties I had 2 drop in an hour. I have levelled one up to keep up but I am a ways off rank 3 with Eris
-
Why do people call it a rush hour for this gun SLOW DOWN PEOPLE ITS NOT A RACE STOP RUSHING!!!!! Hahahahaha I got my today i like it just need to get to rank 3 and then its my new main
-
1 ReplyI spent about 3 or 4 hours
-
1 ReplyI had it for 3 hours before I found out...

1 ReplyMy suggestion for those who hate sitting in loading screens and want glimmer alongside this is simple do earth patrol and go to rocket yard. 2 possible spawns that spawn about every 20 minutes. Certainly slower but fewer loading screens and you can get glimmer
-
4 RepliesIs husk of the pit any good in crucible(not IB)? I haven't had a chance to try it yet
-
I got mine on the first blade of crota I have ever seen...I had no idea that it was such a elusive drop for some people. I have been overall extremely lucky with drops in this game already.
-
5 RepliesYou forgot "50", like in the 50th thread.

Edited by CorinMur: 12/22/2014 3:46:28 AMI always mute fist of crota and that one mission on the moon, we've awoken the hive!
-
I got it and got it ready to upgrade.
-
1 ReplyJust got mine on patrol in the Divide. Probably about 40-50 times I've killed those Knights. For those still grinding, keep at it, you will get it.

Edited by MASSive: 12/22/2014 3:26:27 AMI already had a fully leveled HotP and decided to remake my 3rd character last night. So there I was, patrolling the Cosmodrome for a bounty, when some Blades of Crota appeared near the mission marker I was going for. At the time, I was at Level 7 (I think) and couldn't do any damage to the minions because they were too high of a level. In fact, they one-shot me. So I just respawned, grabbed the mission and was about to go on my way. Lo and behold, a single 20+ character came to my rescue. As he killed the Blade, I happened to be close enough to get the experience. And a second Husk of the Pit. This was completely without trying to get it, was my first encounter with a Blade on this character, and I technically shouldn't have been able to get it. So yeah.

2 RepliesTook me 100 plus blade of crota kills to get mine. Don't get discouraged it will drop!!!!!
-
3 RepliesI got mine after roughly ten runs in the Fist of Crota farm. Took it straight to the moon and WOKE THE HIVE to fill the upgrade node with Hive kills so it'll be ready as soon as I level up Eris. All told it took me just about an hour total to get the drop and the kills. I was lucky. I watched one of my favorite Twitch streamers run Fist of Crota something like 106 times this afternoon without getting the drop.

1 Replyfarm the fist and then wake the hive. Took me about 12-15 runs of the fist to rip it from that bastard knight. totally RNG drop, so don't bother with your lucky helmet, level 31 requirement, or wax idol. just keep trying and when/if you get sick of it, go farm the rocketyard. Once I got it, I when straight to the moon to wake the hive with a wax idol. Took me about 40 minutes of that. Gun looks badass, but totally blows. i hate the ones with the maxed out fire rate (also looking at you, Atheon's epilogue). Hope the upgraded versions are better. Now, I need to grind on eris to get up to level 3
