Plus their efforts prove that Sony, Microsoft and Bungie as well as other gaming companies don't care once they get our money in their pockets
I'm not really sure how you're coming to that conclusion. These companies do their best to recover from DDoS attacks, and it's not exactly a quick process. This Reddit thread has a pretty good description about what's happening in a DDoS attack. And from a completely cynical view, they need to care because otherwise people start leaving those games or services and the money stops rolling in.

It's kinda hard to stop lizard squad but you wouldn't understand that. They can hack just about any server they want.
Sony
Kind of odd considering how they showed that they cared about gamers at E3 2013.
Microsoft
Eh...kinda not surprised.
Bungie
That's a shame, considering how they've made such great games in the past. While <insert newest game from Bungie here> was disapppointing in some aspects, I thought it was good in some aspects (PvP, combat, action). But still, these "Lizard Squad" guys have no reason to be doing this sh't, other than to annoy us and piss us off. The question is, why? Why do they feel that they are so important that they need to interfere with some of our leisure activities?
