Honestly, I heard the Attack rating of the "new" guns started at 302... which is nice, but it wasn't articulated correctly. And even then I feel it's a small gain, since my Invective would lose its ammo regen, or Thorn would lose its DoT. After taking several game design courses, the worst mistake people make is making something that could be simple and fun over complicated.
"To get past this enemy in a board game, you have to roll a die 3 times and take the average. Also, the first enemy needs a 6. GOOD LUCK!"
The point was to make it SEEM different and complex, so the guy could get a good grade or whatever. However... this actually made the game hard (if not, impossible), not fun, and just... unnecessary. Although a simple example, it's the same here. They're overcomplicating simple things for game elongation and making it seem bigger than it really is, which just isn't necessary.
