1 ReplyIncreasing the number of currencies while decreasing the number of sources is the equivalent of increasing the amount of grinding in this game. Sure, you have more ways to get planetary materials and this is great, but the higher level equipment now sounds like a giant grind. Whereas before ascendent materials were used for many things there were also multiple sources to get them and we could choose and pick where we got them and how we used them. Now instead of having these key materials, we have a whole collection with very specific ways of obtaining each. Now among the incoming grinding for these new specific materials we have the following: - Crota Raid grinding: Required for radiant shards in order to upgrade raid armor in order to run hard crota raid in order to get raid weapons - Rep grinding: Required to gain commendations that are now required to buy legendary gear. Will existing marks-only legendary gear still be available? Will rare blue gear receive an increase is light level? Better think about raising that max mark level because hitting max marks is going to occur well before hitting a rep level increase. - glimmer grinding: If we want to upgrade our exotics, 7K glimmer from a 25K max availability is going to require some grinding if we have more than 3 exotics to deal with. Not that hard to imagine if you have exotics across 3 characters. - exotic grinding: to re-level exotics that we already leveled. Being that only 1 exotic armor and weapon can be equipped at a time, this will be painful for people who have multiple primaries. Maybe you can save me some time: but will Bungie be kindly granting us the opportunity to trade in our exotics for even better ones (with no upgrades) once the House of Wolves DLC comes out? Will we really get to redo everything some more with that DLC too?! My advice is to spend some time expanding Destiny in what it does well and not on what people dislike. Most dislike hamster wheels. - People seem to like the FPS controls and action, so add more activities that use this. Missions, strikes, and things that involve shooting stuff (this is a shooter still right?). - Making enemy counts variable (i.e. 3 knights, 8 acolytes, and 5 thrall sometimes and others it may be 5 knights, 3 acolytes, and 15 thrall) as well as spawning locations and even random spawn timing would greatly increase playability. Keeping people frosty will keep things interesting when running the same 6 strikes over 100 times each. - Most dislike unnecessary grinding. We aren't turning into galaxy agriculturists are we? Unfortunately, this seems to be the main focus of this latest Dark Below DLC notes. -
