I see a lot of people on here complaining about having to upgrade their exotics all over again and maybe they're right. One thing about Destiny is that the world lacks character and characters. The NPCs are largely forgettable because they don't really do anything and don't provide much in the way of immersion. Regarding the upgrading of exotics and armour, Bungie may have missed a trick. Why not make the upgrade done by the gunsmith and a new armour smith character. Perhaps Eris has brought ancient knowledge back from her time with the Hive and it's allowed the gunsmith new insight into how to make exotics even more powerful. He can then send you on missions for the required materials to enable him to upgrade the weapons. In this way Bungie could have created new content, players would not feel like their old efforts have been wasted or that they have to grind through the same content yet again and the NPCs would have more of a purpose. I thought of this idea in two minutes. I'm surprised Bungie couldn't have done the same.
