5 RepliesMy problem with this upgrade system is NOT that I will lose the time and experience that I put into the Exotics, but rather, that I have no incentive to put any effort whatsoever into upgrading the Exotics until I trade them in. Lately, I’ve been doing the daily bounties solely to level up my exotics. Now that I know I will just have to reset them, I will not put any more time into upgrading them until after I have traded them in. This seems counter intuitive to me. I would think that Bungie would want a system in place that would encourage a player to spend time upgrading an item at ALL times. Need some reason to continue putting time into a weapon before trading it in, especially if it takes a few weeks for Xur to offer a trade for your desired weapon! Maybe adjust the system so that if the Exotic is maxed out, the user is not required to trade in an Exotic Shard and Glimmer? Or what if the more an Exotic is upgraded before trading in, the higher the max stat is on the new version of the weapon (i.e. - Trading in Thorn with no upgrades yields a version with a max attack of 310, while trading a maxed Thorn would give a version with a max stat of 330)? This second option sounds a little too “grindy” to me, but I think it would still be better than the current system. It would give me a reason to start doing bounties again! Just my 2 cents.
