  • I'm on the fence for this whole "exotic resetting move". I'm leaning more towards I don't like it, but it's not too much different from other games. In things like WoW (disregarding the whole "Destiny is not an MMO" thing, which I understand), yes, they make your gear irrelevant, but they at least implement a guise to make it seem like you are getting new, awesome gear. However, in something like Borderlands, weapons are traded out all willy nilly because new, better items are found all the time, but they don't need to be upgraded, they just are how they are. But then here, we are made to believe that Exotics are supposed to be the best of the best, and that the Raid Weapons were fantastic. We finally get them, put in a lot of time and effort to level them up, and then the purples are flushed down the drain and our extoics are reset. Not expanded upon, just reset with higher values. There is no guise of new stuff, this is just the same exact thing a second time, which wears on a person's patience (and time). In other games, you get "new" gear to make it seem like you are making progress. It's the old gear with a new name and higher attack, yes, but it feels like progress. Especially when you can actually level up independent of your gear, unlike Destiny, which requires the best gear to reach max level, and taking off that gear reduces your level. The things they made actually the same is the new purple raid armor, as it is just VoG armor with more light and Hive perks, but at least it feels like progress, like we are going somewhere. The issue with this derives from the crummy loot system in place. They claim to be fixing it for the Crota raid, but we'll just have to wait and see. A lot of people, like myself, aren't going to like just finally getting a weapon we've wanted more than the Mythoclast after over two months, only for it to be completely obsolete in under a week. I've barely gotten to enjoy this weapon, and now it will be effectively useless in the new raid, which is sadly probably the most interesting part of each expansion, unless those story missions actually give us some story (which would be some sort of miracle). I have gotten 7 Chatterwhites, but only just got a VoC to try out. This update makes things actually very similar to other games, but it's going to leave a bad taste in so many people's mouths because Destiny is already lacking in content, and now it's making us do the exact same thing. Exact same (in regards to exotics anyways, which are supposed to be the big item in our setups). No guises, no mind tricks, no nothing. Take your gun, and relevel the exact same gun. Take your armor, and relevel your exact same armor. I don't disagree with this change, but I don't agree with it either. I was actually 100% against it until I really thought about it, but even after thinking about it and accepting this is pretty standard for such games, this still sucks complete ass to the people who have already taken the time to level up their favorite stuff, only to have it taken away and releveled completely again, or get left behind by inferior versions of the same gear.
