Please don't force us to restart. I don't wanna keep upgrading the same guns forever.
We already put a lot of time into them. Let us add to it. Don't force is to wipe our progress.
I'd be insurmountably impressed and appreciative if Bungie listens to their fans on this one, in time for the DLC release. But with such little time before then, it seems very unlikely...

Nothing is being forced, whether or not you transmute (that is the MMO term) is all in your own choice. Nothing is controlling you or you're controller nor is there a requirement for you to do so. Please don't use the word "force" so loosely.

You cannot level up your current exotics to be viable in the Hard raid to come without resetting the progress on your weapon. So YES, in order to progress, they are FORCING you to relevel the whole gun over again. Which is bogus and makes NO sense other then just them trying to extend our play time. But this isn't the way for them to do it. I'd like to hear them answer, for what reason they've decided to do this.

No that is not forcing. Forcing is simply wiping all of our weapons upgrades and giving us that OPTION. They are not forcing you to do the hard raid, they are not forcing you to use these specific exotic weapons and they are not forcing you to play the game. There are other weapons. You do not have to play the raid on hard. You do not have to transmute your exotic weapon. You do not have to play the game. The only force from bungie in this game is the invisible barrier. Is there a barrier that keeps you from entering the raid with any other weapon?

You're FORCED into resetting your progress in order to progress. It's conditional, but it is forced by definition since there's no other means of upgrading. Obviously they can't strap us to a chair and make us relevel it, but they can FORCE us to restart our progress if we want to progress it at all. It would be like them saying: "In order to play the new raid, you must first run a hundred strikes." In that case they would be FORCING you to run the strikes if you want to play the raid. Which would be just as senseless as what they are doing now, as it's just an under handed way to keep us playing. But we deserve something much more creative to extend our play time since we're supporting them by purchasing the DLC.

No the difference between your analogy and this predicament is that those 25 strikes are required. You do not have to transmute your exotic. You can go in the new raid and use your un-transmuted weapon. Neither any player nor Bungie is stoping you or giving the raid a restrictive requirement that says you absolutely must have a transmuted weapon. Do you understand: You do not have to transmute your weapon, there is nothing stopping you from not doing it. There are no game-restrictions that makes you unable to play the raid with an un-transmuted weapon. Will it be difficult? :Yes it will. Will it be necessary? :Only if your a person that relies only on exotics and doesn't see the legendary weapons that will be available. Does that mean you are forced because bungie gave you absolutely no other options of weapons& armor? :No you can go on the raid with the maxed out exotic you have now! Sure it'll be tough but it's not game breaking impossible! Plus it's not like there's no weapons coming with the DLC and it's not like if you don't do it you'll be penalized for it other than the games simple game mechanics.

Edited by guardianz: 12/4/2014 3:19:32 AMWe're obviously hitting on different points. I'm not saying you're forced to reset in order to do the raid. I said you're forced to reset in order to progress your weapon. In that way IT IS forced. But like I said conditional. I guess I could rephrase my analogy this way. "You can play the normal raid all you want, but in order to progress to the hard raid, you must do 100 strike." It's all for no point but to extend our playtime redoing what we've already done.

Yes I see and finally our argument can come to a rest but I have this to say: I'm not surprised by this mechanic because it is not simply a new mechanic that has popped out of no where. This is how most MMOS deal with weapons that have become obsolete. They give paths to making them stronger but in exchange for far strength potential, everything you did for that said weapon is reset. Also we do not know the full details of how exactly bungie will implement this new mechanic. The mechanic could in reality require the exotic to be fully upgraded to do it thus making it fair in a sense. The mechanic could be similar to the refresh me shine in the Iron Banner Complain but complain constructively and without assumptions based on your own and everyone's else's thought rather than the un revealed details.

I also think it's a bit unfair that whether you have your weapon maxed out, or it's fresh, you'll still have to level it the same. I think they could at least do something to level that out, so our progress thus far doesn't go to waste.
