Thats wow, an mmo. This is destiny a self proclaimed "shared world FPS". Key words: FPS. There needs to be a line drawn here. No offense to you but this was never an mmo and calling it or compareing it to one is complete unfair.

  • Ok, it's a shared world fps with mmorpg gear? I don't understand what everyone expected exactly. Do you want to keep exotic X for ten years? I'm honestly looking forward to some new stuff. My existing exotics and legendaries are all sub-par in my mind and a lot of them don't even work right (e.g. the full auto perk "jamming"). Lesson learned though. Pick weapons and gear carefully. Don't max out 15 different things when you only use 2-3. I can fully understand the frustration many are feeling, but I saw it coming a long time ago. When I ditched my greens for blues, then my blues for purpz, I saw that Destiny was just like WoW. I knew right then that everything I did in 1.0.X was going to be replaced or changed in 1.1.X.

Man, Destiny is a soft MMO. When people start realising this they'll be less butthurt. I'm with you DJ, I think what theyre doing here is crappy, and I feel like all my levelled exotics are for nothing now with the current designed trade in. BUT, This game is built on the pillars of an MMO. Need to come to terms with that. You can have MMOFPS. Planetside is one such game.

  • I diagree. I would say there are elements of mmo but the roots are firmly grounded in fps.

The perspective with which a person interacts with the world makes no difference. I never said it wasnt a shooter. It is a shooter. But it is also an MMO. That's my opinion, and yours is as valid as mine is. They should be looking to other MMO's as a standard on how to release content, be inspired by successful MMO systems and learn from failed ones. This game has a lot of potential, but they will ruin it if they keep putting these shitty systems in and then revamping them six weeks later. Anyway, this got off topic - I know you're frustrated from spending so much time and them disregarding it. So am I.

  • I can agree somewhat. But FPS isnt just perspective its a genre of its own. One that bungie has done very well with in the past and in some respects help build. Im say ing its more FPS than anything else. Everything in the game aside from the tower is accomplished by running around and shooting stuff with your gun. Some of those tasks are mmo style but the mmo side takes a back seat to the flawless FPS gameplay. But your right we are pretty off topic.
