Edited by Amorphis_Fi: 12/4/2014 2:20:13 AMSo for every expansion you got we have to start everything all over again? I guess if I receive an exotic I wont bother leveling them since next expansion a big reset. Its good system really I like.
-
The exotic weapon reroll is really rubbing people the wrong way. To reset our progress on the "end goal" of maxing our highest tier gear is a slap in the face of our time. Yes it is easier to upgrade now because the ascendant mats being replaced by regular mats but the xp is where the grind is and what sucks. Jack up the damage or defense by adding another node/tier and then we keep the progress. This sets the tone for further resets so why would we keep maxing out our gear just to go back to square one?

Edited by Sharpshooter421: 12/4/2014 2:19:40 AMDeeJ, Destiny has reached the point where people will either stick with this game and the franchise, or leave in mass numbers. This is the point where, in 5 years, you'll look back and say "where did we go wrong" OR " this is when we finally created the universe we always envisioned". Obviously the community is incredibly pissed. The fact that we wasted a massive amount of time farming for materials, ascendant mats and experience all for nothing pisses people off. If you do ANYTHING, make it so that fully upgraded exotics simply have an extra addition to the skill tree that you must unlock with a exotic shard. All exp earned toward upgrading the attack would go to this "ability". That way you wouldn't lose ALL that time. Also, do the EXACT SAME THING for raid weapons, such as the Fatebringer. New raid weapons should be viable because of their abilities in the raid, not because they just have higher attack. Being able to boost these weapons would make the VOG viable and relevant, something most mmos struggle with.
-
Does the weapon have to be fully upgraded to 300 before you can upgrade to the new version? Or is it simply buy the new upgrade and then it starts the new progression. If it has to be fully upgraded to 300 first before you "start over" then we have not really wasted time upgrading the exotics we have now. Just taking them to the next level and if that's the case not really a bad deal.
-
I HATE this. So I was better off not upgrading a single one of my exotics and I wasted lord knows how may many hours to upgrade all of these damn tings. Also are we going to be doing this all over again on the next expansion?? This is nonsense. I have every exotic fully maxxed except thorn and the playstation exclusives this is B.S. Just add add another tier to get it to 323 and charge your B.S 7000 glimmer and your new exotic shard nonsense. WE ARE NOT HAPPY signed. all the hardcore gamers who grind and actually play the hell out of your game

What do most of us seem to think about this news, this 'Update'? Don't waste your time sending it out, don't waste our time downloading it and putting up with it. Don't. Even. Bother. Step back, look at what your community is saying to you, instead of trying to be an overbearing parent trying to do 'what you think is best' 'what you think they want' and 'what you believe is an amazing idea'. It is not. This proposed idea? This is a waste of time and effort for all parties involved. Our time gets wasted by having all of our gear(god forbid we actually get to enjoy it IF we manage to get something we want) reset to stand a chance. Your time gets wasted by having more people raging on the forums, then trying to fix this screw up. Something I was told as a kid? When you assume something, you make an ass out of you and me. Listen to your community. Stop making assumptions. Work after suggestions are made, ask for community ideas before you start working on something that you think is good. Unless of course, you want to stop taking our money and have people warned away from your game. I love this game, I truly do. But this? These ideas involving resets to stand a chance are absolute stupidity. Don't even get me started about the people who don't have the DLCs. We still do not have every player running around at Level 30. The only way past it is to get the DLC? What happens with the next DLC, then? Nightfalls and Heroics go up to 34? Good luck to anyone not paying for your expansions, essentially.

You know what the s******** part is? A bunch of people myself included have been leveling all there exotics in the last couple weeks they may not have done early on in anticipation for their usefulness in the raid, and like everything else bungie has done with this game is give us a nice middle finger.
-
So if legendary gear won't be as powerful as exotic, can we please equip more than one exotic at a time? Reading this update shows that bungie is just winging this. They knew they had DLC coming out but they didn't plan on how it would tie in with the current system. Why should anyone play until the second DLC drops? Everything will probably change again and all your hard work would be for nothing.

I am cool with the potential reset on gear to recap it to new and higher standards. BUT, I think the whole Xur part of it should not be on the game man. I think leaving it to RNG to have people work on a process to upgrade their guns is a bit much. I get that you guys have taken considerable steps to improve the odds of it being your gear/weapon to upgrade from what I saw but still man. Xur gets a little repetitive with what he sells OVER AND OVER again. And can you guys explain why he no longer sells Heavy Ammo packs? Cause I really miss that.
-
Maybe it's just me but you should have learnt a lot in the past weeks since launch. People finding the time to grind Sucky loot system that does not really reward but is a roll of a dice Raid encounters that should have been pretty much polished but forever being patched. The list goes on The fan base will soon get tired with all there hard work being thrown in the trash can. I love destiny but I am going to wait before buying the pass to see the reports on the raid because on a serious note if the raid isant finished and you don't test it fully so people cheese it and you only fix what you feel like doing then there is not much point in continuing Personally I think vog should have been fully rectified before new content is introduced because if the first raid is anything to go by then good luck all :) Exotics should be exotic like in other mmo very very rare so it is a status and achievement not thrown around lick average currency

DeeJ I've supported Destiny every step of the way. Been with you guys since beta. I've accepted the flaws in the game. Carried on. Carried on with the glitchy atheon nonsense. Carried on with everything. However I'm extremely unhappy about this progression system. I've put a lot of time into my exotics. I don't particularly want to start over. It feels cheap. You guys are gonna make us grind all over again? For what purpose? Game longevity? I'm not going anywhere. I'll still continue to play. Even if you guys go forward with this exotic reset. I won't be happy about it but I'll just accept it and move on. Not happily though.
-
Artificially extending play time a bit too much. Also it would have been nice to know our exotics would be reset right when the shards feature was announced so we knew not to bother upgrading.
-
This may have already been asked and answered but will we need to max out a current exotic in order to be able to upgrade?
-
Edited by Vausser: 12/4/2014 1:10:29 AMSince I am currently working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, I cannot fully comprehend all of this information, I am too tired. But this I do know, I thought my vault and characters were full already, I won't even be able to play the darkness below on my three level 30's. I cannot be the only one who bought or found three of the best exotics. I refuse to break down my weapons regardless if they are good or not. This is clearly upsetting a lot of people but I will continue: we need at least three times the vault space, I for one want six characters, we need some way to collect our ships, sparrows, and shaders, and we definitely need a storage place separate from items for our unused engrams. Please do not insult me with calling me a hoarder, there are others like me who would never break down their weapons. Would you trash your weapons in real life for weapon parts? I sure as hope not. It's sounds funny but they are all important to me. Do you know how many motes were spent during the iron banner on weapon rerolls? It is infuriating to consider that my weapons from the iron banner will have to be replaced. People in raids already kick you if you use shadow price instead of the raid weapons.
-
You know what would fix the legendary issue for a lot of people? Lvl 32 VoG that gives lvl 32 versions of all VoG Legendaries. There Deej, you can have that one for free.
-
So if I want to upgrade my Ice Breaker, I have to hope that Xur just happens to be selling it that week? Then if I get lucky (lol), it's reset and I get to grind it all the way back up again? How fun. No wait, the other thing: tedious.
-
Edited by AverageAdultMan: 12/4/2014 2:01:09 AMhow about you just add more slots to the skill tree once we buy and upgrade it from Xur and NOT reset our progress, we will just pick up where we left off, that way we still use your exotic shard system and no exotic gets left behind I would've never upgraded and wasted any of my materials for my exotics if I knew it would just reset every DLC
-
2 RepliesWhat was the point of raiding bungle? Now legendarys are going to be as strong Wtf seriously
-
It's all to make their lack of content last longer....so glad I didn't waste my money on their shitty dlc. Throw in 2 more strikes and I'm sure I'll get stuck doing the archon priest 30 times in a row anyways. Is there even a higher level for the strikes being the level cap is getting raised?
-
Look at the community's response deej it's your job ffs
-
Lest not forget the week wasted in iron banner for lvl 30 gear....that's now useless! Or the grind for glimmer and materials to upgrade all that stuff that's now a big waste of time! Legendaries should have upgrade node!!!!
-
me neither done with.

1 ReplyThe grind is as essential to an MMO / shared world shooter / persistent online game as it was to 1990s MTV. But we need a compelling reason to dance. The issue, as I see it, is that you're replacing the carrot at the end of the stick with the same exact carrot we just ate. Were our exotics to become obsolete due to the availability of a wide range of new and enticing exotics at the end of the stick, the resentment over the many hours put into obtaining and upgrading the former would give way to excitement over spending more hours trying to obtain and upgrade the latter. As it stands with this new system, however, there seem to be relatively scant new options and the grind will mostly be to get our existing exotics back to exactly where they are now, but with comparable damage numbers in the new content. We already know how these items handle when fully leveled. Games are all arbitrary in a sense, but this system is too transparently arbitrary and fails to provide the prerequisite incentive to continue the grind. Put more concisely, this is kinda lazy gameplay extension bullshit.
-
1 ReplyWow so I spent ALL of my marks to get upgrade materials to FINALLY upgrade my weapons only to find out they will have to be RESET? What the hell kind of bullshittery is this? So disappointing, please give us ALL of this info up front before you decide to change things drastically. I loved the last patch, simply overjoyed now I feel tricked.

16 RepliesOk. So having read the update notes I would like to share some of my personal concerns: 1) I am very much against having to re-level my exotics in order to get more power out of them. This seems totally counter-productive to "making them worth the price of ownership" in my eyes. It seems like Xur will only be able upgrade whatever weapons that he brings with him to upgrade on a given week, so in addition to having to wait what could amount to many weeks just to get my weapon upgraded, I also now have to spend a very steep amount of strange coins, and spend hours releveling a gun that I already maxed out and (in the case of more recent maxes) spend exotic shards to do. This does not seem like a very good deal to me at all. If I understand correctly, the total strange coins investment needed to get the next upgrade level (exotic shards) plus the time needed to relevel the gun just isn't worth the single damage upgrade that the gun will end up getting. That being said, perhaps a better solution would be to make the next upgrade cost two exotic shards instead of just one. Xur can still bring random guns that he can upgrade, but it won't seem like I am losing anything to make it better, yet I still am required to put some work in to make the upgrade. Based on what I have read here, this Exotic Leveling idea has been overwhelmingly ill received. 2) I am still unclear as to how the commendations work. If I understand it correctly, I will be unable to buy the new legendary gear unless I have the required commendations to get it? So if my Vanguard Level is currently 7, does that mean nothing in regards to the new gear? Does that mean that I have to get X amounts of commendations in order to buy the piece of gear I want? If that is indeed the case, I feel like this will stunt Guardian growth to a ridiculous level, and will make for a frustrating grind in order to get gear. Can you please shed some light on this so that I can form a better opinion on how I feel about this (if my opinion really matters at all :P) 3) I really like the "smart loot, yet still RNG" factor that will be introduced with the new raid and really hope that it works out. Raiding should mean more than just Ascendant materials and broken confidence with regards to leveling up. This might help fix that so no issues there. However, I am concerned about whether or not ALL of the raid armor will be available in the normal raid or not. VoG is very frustrating for me because I have to do the hard mode in order to get the Helmet, when all of the other gear is available in the normal run. Will Crota's End be the same way, or will you be able to get ALL of the raid armor off of the normal run so that the when the Hard raid becomes available I can be ready to tackle it? I don't mind that the raid primaries can only be obtained in the hard run, that seems fine to me, but if you do that, all armor should be available in the normal run. 4) I am disappointed that there is no mention of increased Vault Space. Seeing as how I may have to end up banking lots of exotics if this Exotic Leveling idea actually goes through, I would appreciate somewhere to actually put them. We need Vault Space in the worst way. Is this something that is going to happen? Deej, you guys knocked it out of the park with the recent Exotic update. It was like at long last the winds of awesome are sweeping through Destiny to give players new hope going forward once again. After so many nerfs, and takeaways, and further ways to stunt growth this latest patch was a significant breath of fresh air. I feel like this was the first patch that you guys pushed that didn't take something away from us (save for the Cryptarch actually decoding engrams to what they should be) and I am very excited going forward. But the things that I listed honestly discourage me greatly, and while not enough to make me stop playing, it will be enough to make me wonder if you guys are going in a good direction with this game as far as my entertainment value is concerned, and may impact my decision to buy future DLC beyond the two that I have already bought. I appreciate all the work that you and the development team have put into the game so far, and I really, really like playing it. And thanks for taking time to read this, if you even did. Because even if you didn't, I appreciate that I can at least have a forum to say my part. Let's keep the winds of awesome blowing...

1 ReplyDeej, These may be stupid questions but i cant see any reference to them in notes. This new legendary gear, as well as having higher defence value, does it have higher light value? Also if i choose to upgrade my exotic armour does this light level increase?
