2 RepliesIf you ask me, resetting an exotic that capped out at 300 damage, in order to bump it up to 320 or 330 just doesn't really seem worth it. That equals about 1 more bullet out of a hand cannon, or 3 more bullets out of an AR, to kill an enemy (assuming your shooting at high level enemies). It's not going to be a big difference, unless they say 350+ is the new max (which I doubt) I think I'd rather just keep them as they are and pull the trigger one more time. Instead I'll fully upgrade any new DLC exotics I get. What I have now can stay where their at.
-
My thoughts: prepare for A LOT of whining. I don't really mind, I feel lucky that my current exotics can be improved soon - so the f*ck what if I have to re-level it? When you raise the damage from 300 to 330 or whatever it is, It essentially becomes a new gun. Think of it like getting a blue weapon earlier in the game after slogging through the crap that is green weapons; I know it's not the same, but you'll be a lot less pissy if you use some variation on that perspective. Also, I swear my exotics are levelling considerably faster since the update... I could be tripping though =) Of course, I would prefer no reset, but it means I can smash Hard Light again (havent used it heaps since I maxed it, finishing off mah Juju cause it's finally worthwhile!)
-
It's just.... Dumb. It feels like a cheap way to make me play longer. I was already gonna play the game all the time anyway but I don't wanna be stuck upgrading all of my exotics again.

Edited by MASSive: 12/4/2014 3:34:49 AMThis is about the stupidest way you could go about leveling existing weapons and armor. You WILL lose players if you do this. You WILL ruin the game if you do this. You have already shown based on previous patches that you can change weapon perks and abilities without resetting their experience. Instead of resetting the experience, you could simply add a new ability into the tree. It would still cost another exotic shard to upgrade the attack/defense, but it sure beats grinding the hell out of a weapon/armor that you have already fully leveled just so you can be competitive.

Wow deej, all these crap resets for just 1 more raid and strike and a couple of Destiny's repetitive story missions. The worst part is that it seems you and Bungie are actually proud of this garbage. Don't pat yourselves on the backs just yet..

1 ReplyEdited by AngelSadism: 12/4/2014 2:34:53 AMWho the hell come up with the idea of reset progression? That makes no sense. It isn't call "Upgrade", Its trading a 330 exotic with 300 exotic. Do Bungie really need these kind of thing to keep player busy rather than actual fun contents? BYW, now even upgrading Exotic require RNG from Xur too? SMH.
-
Please tell the devs that making us reset all of the time that we sinked into upgrading our exotics just to make them a viable option is unreasonable. Find a way to make this right, Deej. I just hope that you can do it.
-
Give us something for our trouble. Even if only a little. Consider the time spent, we want to have a little token of that time spent. A fully upgraded weapon should at least start at 66% upgraded.
-
Edited by Mike : 12/4/2014 3:28:42 AMDrugs are bad Bungie, stop using them. You guys had to all be high as a kite to come up with this.
-
Hmm... If I reset my exotic armors, would it increases my light level?

I've completed 100 bounties from all these tears....

1 ReplyEdited by CavScout00: 12/4/2014 3:17:00 AMThis will be the start of a decline in the amount of time people play destiny. If you did this with the second dlc there probably wouldnt be any out rage. Why is their outrage? The game has been out for about 2 months. The drops are terrible. People are just now getting their characters maxed with a variety of good elemental damage weapons. Now they are being told they are going to become obsolete and not on par for new content. New content is 3 missions, 1 strike, and 1 raid. The biggest event can only be completed once a week. Not alot of play ability there to justify grinding everything again in that short of time. Your xmas buyers will have a hard time finding VoG players because why would we want to still do that now. I forsee alot of destiny returns and disappointed new players.

5 RepliesI'm confused. Will my current legendary's become usless?
-
5 RepliesIt wasn't clear for me, what happen to all of our raid weapons we already have? And what happens, if anything, to new Vault of Glass Raid weapons?
-
I have two legitimate questions about these new changes. First when you say that legendaries sold now will be replaced in the dlc does this mean they will be replaced with entirely new weapons or just new upgraded versions to keep up with the higher levels Second regarding exotics. I understand and am fine with the upgrading system but post dlc if I finish the night fall and get an exotic let's say suros regime will this exotic I found after the doc be a "2.0" exotic where I don't need to upgrade it with xur or will it be a"1.0" exotic that I will need to take to xur?
-
Can I upgrade my new extoic without leveling it first? If this is so, that would screw those that spent the time getting it fully leveled up. Not really liking this new upgrade system. Sucks.
-
My only worry is relying on what xur is going to allow us to upgrade per week. I got one exotic for everything I want to upgrade which yes will be a grind but what's the point if xur never has say fusion rifle upgrades? Then I have to wait each week in hope that I might get to upgrade gun? That's worst then hoping he will sell something besides voidfang or sunbreakers!
-
guys stop freaking out the new exotics will gain exp faster thats why they are resetting things, so all gear is on the same lvl.
-
5 RepliesI'm pretty happy with todays news. Looks like lots of good changes are on the way. Do I want to regrind all that Exp for Exotics? Not really but it's pretty easy to do. To the people Crying, Buy telemetry and it doesn't take nearly as long.

There are so many good posts in here describing how the community feels it's pretty unreal. Basically it boils down to "Bungie, you done effed up".

I love this game and I am excited about the new stuff. Thanks deej for letting us voice concerns here. I do have a couple of questions: Will the new commendations we receive allow us to buy more than one piece of legendary gear per new level rank in vanguard, factions, etc.? Or will it be one item per new level? Also, will our current progress be reset with our vanguard? Currently I am halfway to level 6 in my vanguard. Can I continue where I left off on Tuesday, or will I have to reset my current vanguard rep progress? Honestly, the exotic weapon upgrade change doesn't bother me that much. I don't mind leveling up new gear. I am just glad all of my exotics aren't useless! I freaking love the Mida Multi Tool and Suros and I would have cried if I had to lose those guns. My only issue with the process of change is that I feel like it's happening a bit too fast. This game is only a couple of months old and it is already getting a major change. I feel like I haven't achieved the things I want to in the current state of the game and now I have to restart. I haven't gotten my raid gear for my current two characters and now the Vault of Glass will be much harder. If I could have maybe one more month with the current system I would totally fine with restarting. Oh well. Love the game anyway.

Deej, here is my general response to the RAGE posts right now: I'm really not bothered by this.. all it means is I will focus on new exotics.. and trying out new weapons.. and I seem to recall having fat stacks of strange coins once I got a second character high enough to roll the weekly. the reset seems a bit harsh, but it'll only encourage me to focus on gear I really like.. versus just popping it on every single one and instantly having an armory of new maxxed damage weapons.. which while in theory is awesome.. will likely steal from the feeling of finally being under geared again.. which is actually nice. I would only add one addendum, tweak the xp requirements of weapons a bit.. armor levels perfectly fine, but weapons (namely exotics) take a very very long time.. this has only been a mild annoyance so far, but with this new system, I think it should be changed to accommodate the necessary re-leveling, do that and I'm all aboard. #calmandpleasantdiscourse

Feeling really mixed about this. I can (sort of) see where Bungie is coming from but to have to re-level my goto exotics i.e. 3 Ghorns, 1 Icebreaker, 3 Voidfang Vestments, 1 Thunderlord, 2 Suros Regime, (I'm trying very hard not to think about my 2 fully upgraded Vexes right now and going on the assumption that they are already upgraded post-patch but in any event still have 3 not fully upgraded yet), 1 P&T and 1 Hawkmoon IS a bit daunting. The rest of the exotics I don't use too often but still...(OCD on needing to level everything will eventually go into overdrive). Also feeling sad for my VOC, A Epilogue and Fatebringer. What is potentially troubling is if we have this option in all the upcoming DLCs then it will be a problem for everyone. I don't say this too often but I can honestly see people just giving up and leave like halfway through a raid. Sad but true.

Bungie, I believe you guys actually have our best interests at heart. I also know we can't have everything our way, it's just not realistic. But please know that this change to upgrading old exotics is a terrible, terrible decision. I get that it's optional, but who the hell doesn't want to continue using the exotics they've earned and worked for? I implore all of you at the development team to make the correct decision and come up with a better way. See you starside.

Pathetic, more time-sinks for people that have already invested hours upon hours into your game. But, as usual, will you respond to our feedback? Nope.
