I'm sad about this. All my hard work pointless. Destiny is like masterbating with out the pay off.

3 RepliesEdited by jerkcore: 12/4/2014 3:28:05 AMI had to stop and think: how long did it take to max out my exotics? Honestly, not that long. The problem was paying for the nodes I unlocked. The hardest part? Getting ascendants. Now, exotics don't need ascendants. Thank CROM. To everyone upset about the new trade-in mechanic - what's the big deal? Did you have something better to do? Gear levels up as you play, you don't ever go out of your way to do that. And now there's an easier way to get mats, so you don't ever have to go out of your way for that, either. The biggest issue, that I can see, is the new shard crystal thing... which is easier to get than ascendants. Just stock up once a week, or dismantle exotics you don't want or like. I'm sure they'll be in RNG rotation as well. Plus, so many people complained about not being able to spend strange coins, well, here you go. If you still can't get over it, just don't do it. New exotics are coming, so worry about those instead. Bungie introduced a higher difficulty to provide you all with a new goal. Then they provided you with the means to level up to match the new challenge. THEN they provides a means of keeping existing gear relevant, along with the added challenge of upgrading them again, but also made them easier to upgrade, imo. If you truly like the game, and have invested many hours into it already, this should not deter you from investing more. If you're truly upset about the changes to the point of public outcry, then you were probably on your way out the door, anyway, so it's a waste of time complaining about it. Now look what you've done. Made me write a wall if text. I hate doing that.

Edited by Baalwulf06: 12/4/2014 4:12:19 AMC'mon Bungie this is your chance to prove that you're gonna actually listen to the community. There is an overwhelming voice here that says no to the reseting of our exotics. If you choose this time to ignore the entire Destiny community...then all your credibility will be gone. In fact i wouldn't even bother asking for community input if you don't listen cause people will probably just paste dickbutt gifs on any topic asking for feedback.... Be smart Bungie, this DLC will set the tone for future DLC...

My thoughts? I was holding back until Iearnt more about how Bungie handle The Dark Below. I think I have seen enough to make up my mind. I'm tired of playing this meta game of Players vs Bungie. I'm done @deej. 30 Titan Guardian tapping out.

1 ReplyDon't listen to feedback. Act on it
-
the shit that gets me is the fact that the exotics i just got or did not level get treated the same way as the maxed exotics
-
1 ReplyLove everything except the exotic upgrade thing don't mid upgrading but why lose everything to me that sucks and I think a better way would be to maybe add a few upgrades nodes to the gun instead
-
6 RepliesWhile your idea to upgrade current exotics to keep them relevant to gear profession is an awesome idea it's clear the community doesn't appreciate the decision. I sincerely hope you change your mind and completely take out the option to upgrade our current guns. Let's all just rely on RNG to get new ones. I am really find with that. Really.

Why wasn't an upgrade system established for all DLC players? Too simple? This would allow those with DLC to keep their current gear but upgrade it to a higher lvl. What I'm reading is all the time spent playing this game as a PvE player has been a waste and everything I've acquired is essentially obsolete. It really seems like the added content will be overbalanced by all the farming I will have to do just to get close to where I am now. I question if it would be more time efficient to just wait for all the DLCs Bungie will make for this game to come out and start playing it then....

Leveling an Exotic the first time is generally quite the trek. It involves using a gun you know will be great later, while it currently is not. Finally getting the upgrades you need feels rewarding and generally makes you fall in love with that item. But doing it a second time? That's all lost. There's no sense of discovery, the progression feels arbitrary due to it being numbers and nothing else, and it feels like the original experience was a waste of time rather than a fond memory. The loss of level progress is the one issue I have with the blog post. There is a lot of great stuff I am happy to hear, but having to relevel my exotics from point 0 is not my idea of a fun time.

I've gotten a total of four characters to lv30, not to mention maxed most of my exotics (owning all but two), duplicates of several, and now you want to fvck me and all of your other dedicated players over and reset all that time we invested into them? Giving a shortcut to people who have all these unleveled guns and armor who have spent a fraction of the time we have?? This - only this - has brought me to consider quitting Destiny.

Edited by BrokenBicycle: 12/4/2014 4:10:48 AMHonestly the main problem with this update is you should have said this as soon as exotic shards became a thing. Withholding that information would obviously piss people off that used an exotic shard already. The second problem is it makes legendaries a little redundant but other then that I like the update.
-
Why not allowing us to upgrade our old legendary armor with an exotic shards so that it could reach higher light level?
-
How about we can upgrade the potential of an exotic without have to upgrade it all again using a ton of experience and materials and glimmer and hard work when we have already done that for the weapon
-
4 RepliesThis new information about the exotic reset and making existing legendaries obsolete make me wish I never bought and played Destiny to begin with.

More questions: Why are y'all not fixing the core loot mechanic, but instead add more redundant loot upgrades? Need raid armor and guns to upgrade armor and guns. I've still never seen boots from the VOG with my Hunter. Increasing the drop rate will not change the fact it's random still. Speaking of the VOG, will similar changes to loot happen there? Or will all lv 32's have Crota armor? Will all my vanguard legendary weapons need be replaced with newer better ones? As for the armor it will not matter as raid armor is still the best. Will blue and green rarity item still be useless to high leveled players? Will there be an increase to vault space to accommodate the new raid gear? Why does Xur have random exotic upgrades? Would it be better to have any exotic become upgraded so long as you have coins? Will vanguard commendations be obtainable from faction packages? Or will they be crucible commendations? Why add these anyway?
-
7 RepliesSo, primary weapons from the raid are ONLY available from hard mode? Why? I can understand the main primary, and a couple of the best ones only being available from hard mode, but ALL of them? Example, I love my Praedyth's Revenge, Found Verdict and Atheons Epilogue, bit they are FAR from the best weapons you can get from the raid. And fully resetting the exotics upon the attack upgrade? And we get no materials back? Could we get SOME amount of ascendant materials back when resetting?
-
I actually had a real idea for an alternative to matchmaking.... I know it's a little off topic, but it's also super not. Check it out? http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/82199569/0/0

6 RepliesYeah Bungie. Offer an upgrade for Legendaries too & don't make me start grinding from the BEGINNING to upgrade all my guns.
-
Edited by Eggreaper: 12/4/2014 4:01:48 AMSeriously Bungie? I love all these new updates, and I look forwards to them. I'm even okay with the exotic one. It's the commendations. The thing that pisses me off is that it's hard grinding faction rep, and in all the hours of gameplay (around two to three days) I've ranked up TWO times with Dead Orbit and nothing else. RNG isn't very nice to me, and really the only way I can level up is Xur and my faction. So now you are asking me on top of 150 CRUCIBLE MARKS Which takes 200+ games where you win in the crucible, getting the faction rep shit, now I need A FREAKING COMMENDATION just to have permission t o buy something? Oh well, that's great. Thanks Bungie. Really. You're trying to improve this game, and you were, but this decision wasn't very smart. Sincerely, a gamer who's rather disappointed. (Also, to all of you who say 'its easy ranking up' I don't play 20 hours a week. Most of the time I barely even play 4-5 hours. Yup.)

6 RepliesEdited by Itachi: 12/4/2014 3:51:48 AMPeople dont seem to realise that you would have to put in a significant amount of experience into the gun to max it out anyways. And bungie isnt resetting your exp....that is your choice. Your guns will stay at 300 unless you decide that you want it to be upgraded further. So stop crying. dont expect them to just hand you the new upgrades.
-
Dear DeeJ, Thank you for hearing us out. The major point of concern is of course the exotic reset. This system is heavily flawed not just because it's extremely tedious to max an exotic, but because it is unfair - what it does is penalise a player proportionally to the amount of effort he has already put in. Simply put, the greater the investment, the greater the setback. I do not see why an upgrade cannot instead add additional exp requirements instead. Perhaps that would be better? A minor point would be the commendations. Are they only obtained from Vanguard and Crucible ranks? Do we also get them from levelling factions (I'm still desperately trying to get the DO shader; rank 15 and nothing!)? Once again, it's great to see receptiveness to player feedback!
-
How about instead of completely resetting the exotic weapons you buy whatever it is you buy from xur that upgrades the weapon it keeps the same exp/nodes you've already put time into? It makes no sense to make the players that have spent countless hours maxing weapons to just throw it away.
-
The exotics should just be more weapon parts and the exotic shard and maybe some glimmer to get the final upgrade. No wiping or starting over just an expensive final add on slot.
-
1 ReplyIt's like a cop in Detroit giving someone a ticket for jaywalking. You have much bigger problems you should be dealing with.

So I talked to a couple of my friends who play this game with me first about their opinions on these additions, before I decided to come to my own conclusion and post it here. While I like the idea that we would have to upgrade our guns to be relevant and to work for those upgrades, I am NOT okay with it resetting the reason we have these guns in the first place. That reason being their namesake or signature attributes. It's fine by me if we have to redo their damage/armor upgrades because we are trying to amp them up to be relevant level anyways. But to be honest, the only reason I use Thorn or Red Death is for its namesake/signature thing. I don't want to have to work at getting my trusty, enjoyable gun back to the point that it became trusty/enjoyable . Just my 2 cents. I don't like this and I would prefer it not to happen.
