I know the Dark Below hasn't been released yet, but has there been any talk yet or even speculation by staff on how to reach Light level 32 and how much Light it will take?
As of now, to get to the max Light level 30, you either need 4 fully upgraded pieces of Raid gear, or 3 pieces of Raid gear + 1 Exotic, netting you a worth of 4 times +30 Light = 120 Light.
Assuming the amount of Light you need to get to 32 requires you to have 4 fully upgraded pieces of Crota's End Raid gear, is having 4 CE Raid pieces the only way to reach 32?
Or will you be able to get to 32 by having 3 CE pieces and 1 Exotic which only has +30 Light?
This would mean that you can get to 32 by having 3 CE and 1 VoG or IB piece (+30 Light).
Assuming this would be unlikely perhaps the new DLC Exotics will have a higher Light stat than +30, but will that mean our old Exotics of +30 Light will be useless now?

It used to be 11 light per level but it appears they made it 12 for the DLC. 120 light == level 30. New legendary gear will have 33 light. With 4 pieces you would have 132 == level 31. New raid gear will be 36 light so 4 pieces would be 144 == level 32. Upgraded exotics will be light level 36 I assume so you'll be able to level up in the same exact manner as last raid. Old exotics are not useless, They can be upgraded.

You will be able to upgrade your current exotics through xur and they will be equal to the exotics from the expansion

3 RepliesIf they don't keep current exotics relevant there will be hell to pay. The fan base will not stand for it. Especially hunters since our best exotics are not from dlc

They are going to be adding new ways to level exotics. Exotic weapon cores and exotic shards, not sure about legendary armor vog raid gear will prob become phased out I'm going to assume the way to reach level 30 will be by upgrading your piece of exotic armor and obtaining CE raid gear which will prob have a light level of 32-35 light.

Crota's End raid armor and the new dlc exotics have more light

I'm guess you need new Raid armour and that Exotics now get some kind of buff or upgrade tree separate to their starting version. We know they're introducing Radiant Energy/Shards so it will probably mean using these and the other new mats.

2 RepliesLet's assume level 32=142 light. To get close while keeping each piece of armor even, you would need 35 light x 4 pieces to get you to 140 light. I assume exotics will be buffed up to 37 light, so you need one exotic and three CE raid gear to get level 32

2 RepliesLight level will be increased to 32 so that means you will need 140 light in total, and no, exotics wont be useless, visit PLANETDESTINY.com and you will find a lot of interesting things about the LIGHT and many more :)

There has to be a way to keep existing exotics relevant. Probably light upgrades or something.

Considering how much weight Bungie put on VOG my guess would be 4 CE or 3 and a new 32 light exotic. Leaving VOG pieces to be swapped along the way.
