Party Chat Feedback

I'd like to start off by saying "Better late than never." Party chat should have been implemented into the game from the beginning, but now that it is here, it's useless to dwell on the past. This thread is my feedback on the party chat, and an attempt to make it work better. Party chat is great. You can switch seamlessly between Fireteam and Party/Strike channels with ease. My biggest concern is that nobody uses it. When I enter the Crucible, especially the Iron Banner, I expected to see more teamwork than ever. The sad truth is that I have not had a single match with more than one other Guardian using party chat. "It took me a while to figure out how to turn it on," said another player to me today. "It just isn't intuitive enough for the average player." I believe that a large portion of the player-base might not even know it exists. If they do, they might not know how to enter it. Most players never visit Bungie.net, so how would they know? I understand that this game is rated T for Teen, but online interactions are not rated by the ESRB and there is a reason for that. I feel as though Bungie is trying too hard to keep players from the toxicity of others. They want the casual player to be able to enjoy the game, regardless of the gametype or who is playing with them. They want to give us choices. Well Bungie. Let us have our choices, but please at least do it right. Make party chat the DEFAULT option. If a player does not like the players in that given match, then they should have the option to leave or mute that single player. Party chat is on by default in every other FPS for a reason. Halo, CoD, etc, all have it enabled. There is a reason why those games worked and had such a lasting appeal. Please Bungie. Make Party chat the default channel... or at LEAST make the ability to switch channels more obvious to the average player.
