PART 5: THE FALLEN AND THE TRAVELER While resentment of humanity is a trait found in all Fallen Houses according to their hostility in-game,the question must be asked: Do The Fallen despise humanity, or just our city? The Devils and Kings claw away at the walls of The City, but yet evidence has proven that they are far less mindless than we would assume them to be. The Awoken have struck an alliance or direct merger with The House of Wolves proving that they can indeed be reasoned with or even sided with. Perhaps their animosity towards The City lies in our reverence of The Traveler, the artifact that created (and later abandoned) their own civilization. The Fallen attack humanity without hesitation, but perhaps they seek not to destroy us, merely to seize The Traveler from us. If my thoughts on the (potentially still existing) unified Fallen empire are to be believed, then it would stand to reason that they followed The Traveler wherever it emerged, no doubt conquering the land in the name of their golden age empire. Perhaps the Kings, being the most powerful of the Fallen Houses, seek to take up the initial objective of their invading armada, and claim The Traveler once again for their empire. For some unknown reason, their attempts to blitz our solar system under in complete failure, with the surviving armada being cut off from all communication or reinforcements. With the efforts of their life-bearing servitors and Archons, perhaps The Kings seek to finish their initial objective after centuries of failure. Given the longevity of their plans and time spent isolated from their prior civilization, it must be assumed that Fallen lifespans are vast, if not entirely indefinite. Once The Kings and Devils have claimed The Traveler from our grasp, it can be assumed that they plan on using pre-collapse technology to once again contact their empire, bringing word of the Traveler's apprehension once again. However, there is a far darker and more grim approach that can be taken. We attack The Fallen because we see them as acolytes of The Darkness, and harbingers of it's dominion. Perhaps the Fallen see us simply as a force of evil, manipulated by The Traveler to serve as it's army. Despite The Traveler's creation of their golden age, it can be argued that The Fallen discovered that The Traveler was not as benevolent as we would believe. Decay can be seen at the bottom of The Traveler, revealing a dark black metallic structure built as if to contain something. Perhaps The Traveler is but a cage, with some vie unknown etherial entity lurking within, using it's limited powers to influence others (humanity) to accomplish it's objectives. Do The Fallen want to destroy this entity, or worse, release it for their own benefit? Even if The Traveler is some form of abhorrent monster, we know nothing of The Fallen's motives regarding The Traveler, though we can only assume they know far more about it than we ever have.

  • Fallen are not corpses. Corpses do not feel pain. Also, in a new grimoire card, variks accidentally cuts himself and bleeds. Corpses don't bleed. Also, in the same grimoire card, it says that varik's arms are starting to weaken in his old age. All of the above prove that fallen aren't lifeless corpses.

  • The fallen see us as remorseless warriors. We see the fallen as evil scavengers. The fallen and us are locked in a battle against the others stereotypes. In fact. A alliance formed very quickly In fallen1

A collection of my ideas, what was previously in the game and what is currently in the game. The fallen are the darkness, the traveller went to their home world and gave them technologies they couldn't have imagined... All was well and good up until the traveller left the fallen behind ###because rather than the fallen appreciating what the traveller had done, they tried to take it as their own and abuse the travellers power.### (the fallen appreciating the traveller is all part of a very elaborate scheme the traveller has in place just keep reading). This is where the name "the fallen" comes from, they were once a very prestigious and noble race, but with little power. The traveller came to them (seemingly out of nowhere) and gave the fallen power that they never had. This drove the fallen the way many men have gone in the past...once a noble man, humble in their being, not having much but enjoying the little they had. But once they gain power (again seemingly out of nowhere) their perspective changes and they end up using their power for their own selfish wants. Without batting an eye lid at anyone or anything that stands in their way of getting what they desire (which seems to exponentially grow and grow and enough is never enough). When the traveller left the fallen they...fell...from grace...the fallen had no idea where the traveller went, or why it went... But it went. And with it also went the fallen "golden age" the fallen had become a custom to the traveller always being there and when it went the fallen fell into turmoil. In acts of preparation and desperation the fallen banded together in small groups, scouring, scrimping and scraping what ever they could. The lucky ones managed to get a hold of huge ships called ketches, and escape the turmoil that their home world was in. Leaders rose, leaders fell, leaders rose from leaders to lead the leaders...servitors were invaluable assets, and were treated like gods. Time passed by and as the fallen had found new worlds to reside, they again scrimped and scraped what ever resources they could get their hands on. They were like intergalactic hunter gatherers who were living just to see the next day, and didn't know where they would end up by the end of the week. With millions upon millions of fallen escaping the turmoil on their home world, their was inevitably some groups of fallen who stumbled across each other among the stars. Some forged alliances, some groups merged together...some seeked to take over the other group, some seeked to take the others resources, some...avoided contact... The fallen are a race which require alot of resources, just to keep them going... And with such large distances to travel, finding and obtaining those resources the fallen needed was no easy task. When a group of fallen stumbled upon another group of fallen on the same planet, both needing the same resources desperately, tensions began to flare. Both groups of fallen knew they barely had the resources to survive the next two days, never mind engage in a small scale war. With this both groups of fallen came to the conclusion that it would be more beneficial to form an alliance rather than fight one another, and thus the first fallen house...was born. Both groups of fallen decided they needed a way to identify one another from other groups of fallen, to avoid any friendly fire in the future. capes were adopted, bright in colour easily recognisable and easy to see. Situations similar to this continued to occur and more and more houses were born. Upon two separate fallen houses colliding with one another on the same planet, the first fallen on fallen shots, were fired. The news spread throughout the houses...and the different fallen houses became very tight knitted and closed themselves off from other houses, becoming increasingly hostile towards each other. After a significant amount of time, once resources became much less of a problem, fallen houses seemed to share a universal urge for revenge. Since the fallen fell, and initially had access to a similar amount of resources at the time, the fallen houses were almost always on a level playing field, one never getting ahead of the other. Thus, a few fallen houses hunted down, and found the traveller, at a similar time, Since they shared the same goal, get revenge on the traveller. Rather than fight one another they all banded together and formed and alliance. Based on the rule: the enemy of my enemy is my friend (sorta). This lead to the battle of the twilight gap in which all the fallen houses banded together in a rare show of allegiance to battle humanity (we protect the traveller and thus are an enemy of the fallen) and exact their revenge on the traveller. The traveller, and the speaker knew...the fallen were hungry for revenge. As it says in the opening screen the traveller was hunted by the darkness(the fallen) across billions of galaxies for eons... After running from a seemingly inevitable situation the traveller decided it had ran for too long, and found an ideal place to stage a major battle. The traveller knew it would get obliterated by the power of the fallen...it needed an army, a very...powerful army. The traveller came to mars, but found nothing...until we found it... The traveller knowing it had little time, and needed a huge armada and fast, wasted no time. Human life span tripled, great cities were built on mars and venus, the moon was fully occupied, mars had a thick, breathable atmosphere, the great storms on venus settled and the atmosphere cleansed of it's toxic gasses. Human intelligence, speed and strength rose massively...new technologies, inventions and innovations were commonplace...this was the Golden Age of Humanity. The traveller made its way to the human home world, knowing it's final stand would be there. But the traveller knew, before the darkness would reach earth, it would reach mars, venus, and the moon first. Because of this, the traveler shown itself on mars, then it moved to venus, and so on... we found the traveller after this great battle (idek which "great battle" there wer so many) which implies the traveller pushed back the fallen by practically nukeing itself. in other words the fallen almost got what they wanted untill the traveller unleashed a massive AOE attack and pushed back the fallen. humanity built a city underneath the traveller, ghosts seeked guardians to protect the traveller, titans built the wall around the city. the "dark mirror" of the traveller is the hive. The travellers plan works, all be it only just... so it summons the hive, to revive it from it's dormant state. The hive overwhelm the moon and set up a base called the hellmouth. Within the hellmouth they are building a machine to revive the traveller. Humanity gives up the moon because it can't sustain a presence there. also in the hope that the moon would be enough for the hive and they wouldn't invade earth. this backfired massively because this only enabled the hive to pursue their goals without having to battle constantly. they used the moon as a base to launch seeders at earth and have been seeding the earth for a long time, preparing for the reign of crota. crota would be the overseer to the domination of earth and yet another planet conquered. The Hive are a spawn of the traveller. The traveller has infinite energy, The traveller goes from planet to planet and The hive go with it and slowly but surely take over billions of planets and moons across the galaxy. their goal is to take over the universe, alongside the traveller. The Traveller and hive are like brothers from another mother, the traveller has infinite energy and needs an infinite army, and the hive need infinite energy to power their infinite army. A partnership that works better than bread and butter. (when i say infinite i don't literally mean never ending, what i mean is an army that can overwhelm with numbers, a powerful army and troops that can be replaced very quickly if they die.) When the traveller comes across a planet with intelligent life it lifts them up and then drops them down(this happened to the fallen, and humanity). leading them into chaos, violent outbreaks, wars, famine and all that other bad stuff, which will considerably weaken the power of the beings living there. paving the way for the hive to obliterate what ever is left (it's easier to destroy a weakened enemy rather than a very strong one). it wouldn't be logical to spawn the hive before a collapse has taken place (thats why the traveller provides a golden age, more powerfull weapons to destroy each other with makes the collapse quicker). it also takes time to build an army and a base for that army, to then invade. it also takes a lot of time to birth ogre's...wizards are also a very valuable asset that aren't dished out just anywhere. Not to mention the resources for the army, bases, hierarchy's and leaders need to be established before a full scale war. I had to talk about my theories for the hive there or me calling the fallen the darkness wouldn't have made any sense. i wrote this 2 weeks after release when i couldn't sleep one night. sorry if it doesn't make too much sense and is poorly written.
