add weather!!
Destiny should have interactive weather, like sandstorms on Mars, wind, rain, and snow on earth, heavy rain on Venus! All these things could effect the control of the game as well as add awesome scenery
Comment weather effects you think would best effect the game and how they would affect gunplay, movement, I.E.

Thought id add to this. Similar frequency to public events, have weather storms roll through the planet that give a temporary boost to the local enemies. E.g during a storm on mars. All cabal gain sheilds, all go into enrage or do bonus damage. In addition to this boost, you can setup a small mini game (time and/or completion based) during the storm .. e.g. - capture the flag style approach, - protect a vip, - capture and defend localised areas, whoever have the most areas at the end, win. These mini games then add to the bounty bucket lists. This should bring people back into patrolling again.
