Mormons are not Christians. Some key differences:
-they believe Jesus and Satan are brothers
-they think God was just like us, but made it to the top level of heaven and created our universe, which his wife celestialy gave birth to
-if you live good enough here on Earth, you'll be able to create your own universe, just like this one (take the place of God)
Not saying they're bad people, but they're beliefs are far from any other domination of Christianity

I beg to differ. To start off all those teachings you stated were quite common in the early 1800's, and not just for LDS. You will not find those ideas expressed like that now a days. We are Christian because of our faith in Jesus Christ. He was and is the Savior of mankind. He is Lord. His atonement reconciles us with God. We read the Bible often and follow it's teachings. We are not the same as Baptists, Methodists, Pentecostals, Catholics, or Evangelicalists, but we are Christian. We may not fit your definition but we fit the definition set forth in the New Testament. It is God who will judge us in the end, by our faith and deeds.
-
Another problem with Mormons. Your beliefs have changed a lot in the past. Where God's word would not change.
-
Christianity has changed a lot in the past. So your argument is kinda silly. There are thousands of denominations of Christianity for a reason. Change happens, we all learn from our past, as God gives us additional knowledge and light. Change can be just as often as it can be bad. God Bless.

Well most churches arent run like a company...
-
And....? The church is very big on being financially responsibility on all levels. It is a global institution, that supports missionaries, buildings, temples, and humanitarian aid in almost every country on the planet. Also printing of church manuals, and scriptures, and it's employee's and supports a university. There is nothing wrong in being responsible. With no worries about finances, we can focus on the gospel and spreading faith in Christ. We don't need fundraisers to keep our churches open, we don't need to sell things to people to stay open. We are financially independent so we can be liberal with the gospel.
-
Yes, but you dont need to pay the church to show gods love
-
Who said any thing about God's love being attached to money? We were discussing the financial responsibility of the church. It does a good job of it. God's love is shown through the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. It is through the atonement that we are reconciled with God. God Bless.

I do know that things have changed, but I gotta ask, why can't you guys drink coke?
-
... I drink a ridiculous amount of Pepsi actually... It comes from a line of thought from interpretation of the Word of Wisdom. Basically we don't drink alcohol, coffee, and teas. For many years people thought this was because of the caffeine contained in coffee and tea. So many believed therefore that soda should not be drunken either. So not drinking became a cultural thing. Recently though leaders have said sodas are not against the word of wisdom. Though that does not mean it is keeping in the spirit of the word of wisdom. The word of wisdom is actually one of my weaknesses, I do not a good job of keeping the spirit of it. Hope that helps. God Bless.

I'm still confused. Alcohol isn't great stuff, I choose not to drink it myself, but I'm fine if people choose to. I was informed however that the LDS church bought Pepsi co., so I see why you drink those sodas.
-
What are you confused about specifically?
-
... I guess I don't know for sure but I would have beard about it... I do not think the church bought Pepsi... They recently purchased a large portion of land in Florida, for forestry. We don't drink alcohol at all. It is forbidden mostly by the word of wisdom and the rest by the request and teaching of prophets.
I like Pepsi, it tastes good...
I do think you guys are good people. I used to have a couple of Mormon friends when I was younger, but after I met their parents all of a sudden they were afraid to be seen with me.
-
One of those cultural things I can't stand as a convert. It is not bad out here in Indiana, but too often I here about LDS being judgmental to other people. Or breaking off contact if someone doesn't show interest in the church. It drives me crazy! We should be out making friends and serving. Not just going around trying to convert people. Show the love of Christ in your service. Emulate Christ as you spread the gospel, in word and deed.
