Bungie!
Ok so I'm confused on your forums with all the stuff about the updates you guys say NOT to do port forwarding because it could cause farther issues. But you guys are sending people these links that say to DO open NAT (port forwarding). Which is it because I would really like to know. Because I can't even play destiny because I just keep getting Caterpillar errors and I keep getting disconnected from Xbox live. So Bungie please please tell me what's up.

11 RepliesHi XGU DarkSoul777, I'm sorry for any confusion here. Port forwarding, opening ports, NAT, and UPnP are all complex concepts that are interconnected in ways that are not super clear. If you can, first check out our help page here: http://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/11931 NAT is, overall, how easily your console/device can connect to other devices out there. The ease of that connection can depend on different configurations in your home network. One such configuration is port forwarding. The important takeaway here is that port forwarding, in particular, is not always the recommended step to take. It really does depend on errors you may be encountering and our help article does explain this. Please do give it a read.
