1 ReplyAre you learning guitar or do you know some already? Just a question. Try a local music store. If they don't have it, they can point you in a good direction. I play bass guitar myself and I love it.

Line 6 spider modular amps are great a spider 2 75watt is like 150 and you don't need a distortion as it has all these effects built in

5 RepliesEdited by John Doe: 11/14/2014 11:34:50 PMAny idea on if you want a combo or a tube amp? Because with that kind of budget you're gonna have a hard time finding anything other than a small combo and a decent distortion pedal. I'd personally recommend an Orange amp

4 RepliesEdited by Void Walker: 11/15/2014 2:16:28 AMWhat kind of metal were you thinking of? In terms of pedals, I would get a multi fx pedal. They do the trick every time. I use a G1on ZOOM pedal. It's got everything in terms of distortion, clean, fuzz, delay and reverb. it even has a great preset that transfers your guitar signal to make it sound like it's an acoustic guitar, which I love. So yea that's my pedal. And it only cost $100 for 100 different sounds. Plus you can mix and mash all the different pedals to make your own presets. Awesome! I play a lot of metal music as well, particularly prog metal. But I'm also fond of ambient music. In terms of an amp, you might not need one! What I do is run my fx pedal into my iPad on GarageBand and play through there with my headphones. This is affordable given you already have an iPad or iPhone or iPod touch to play through. And garage band also has its own set of effects including everything the pedal has. So if you were looking for something affordable you could just buy garage band, a $25 Ugig plugin for your guitar and you would be set. Not to mention you can also record like that into GarageBand. Have fun

Charvel Desolation DC II Epiphone limited edition Genesis deluxe pro (it's blue) Epiphone limited edition Les Paul pro (also blue) Epiphone limited edition Brendon Small thunderhorse Explorer One thing I should mention, whatever guitar(s) you find - whether it be from this list or not - that you'd consider an option, you should take note of the neck shape that way you can go to your local shop and ask to try a guitar with that neck shape (ultimately you should try the specific guitar you want before buying, but I know that isn't always an option) but at least you can at least try to find a guitar with the same or similar neck shape to see if it would be comfortable to you. It would suck to get one of the guitars from this list - or any guitar really - and end up not liking it 'cause of the neck alone.

9 RepliesEdited by Upperclass Bum: 11/14/2014 5:15:48 AMPeavey is your best option. Can't go wrong with this at all, especially for a first amp. They also have two different pedals that go with it, the Sanpera I and II.
