Discussion: How can the raid loot system be improved?
I wrote a reply to another topic (http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/74861370/0/0) in frustration of never being able to get those damn raid boots. So I wanted to make it an open discussion topic and see how you guys think the loot system can be improved. This was my post:
Random means all events have equal probability of occuring. While it's true that with a small sample size results can be skewed, but with a large enough sample size things should even out. I mean come on, each raid has 4 "real" chests and 4 boss drops, and each will give between 1-4 items. If we assume you get 1.5 items on average, then each raid nets you 12 items. So if it's truely random, after 25 raids (read: 300 chances), you should see AT LEAST one pair of boots, right?
Obviously it's not random because people are able to come up with a "loot table":

So Bungie calling all raid drops "random" is a lie and a slap in the face and just an excuse to avoid having to tweak it.
Don't get me wrong, I think Bungie is making a great game and that they actually do care about community feedback. I can tolerate most flaws in games, but not getting those damn boots and being stuck at Lv29 with a carrot on a stick dangling in front of you is infuriating. THIS might be the one thing that will make me quit Destiny. It's not like there are exotic Hunter boots to fill the void either...
Here's a question for you guys: how could Bungie make the loot system better while ensuring that you "work for your loot"? I passionately disagree with trading. Is it possible, or reasonable, to have the RNGesus consider your loot history and *slightly* favor items you don't have? I mean who the -blam!- wants 10 Chatterwhites and 8 raid class items? You can't even dismantle them for ascendant materials!
