It was always Bungie's intention to make Destiny a series. Many people are hung up on "500 million budget" and "Destiny is supposed to last 10 years," without realizing those statements were referring to the development and maintenance of the franchise, and not a just a single installment. Besides, there will probably be a new Generation of consoles between now and then. Why would we be expected to continue playing on 360/PS3? I doubt they'd want to code across 6 different consoles... But your idea of an ideal Destiny is actually spot-on. Their original model was something like Base game + 2 DLC every other year or so for 10 years with "events" sprinkled throughout. (It was in one of the VERY early vidocs that they described this vision. I may try to find a link, but google can find it just as well) The storyline would weave itself through each installment, coming to an end in the final release. Not like Call of Duty which simply recycles the same programming, and regurgitates it back just in different time periods. (Call of Duty: 3035 featuring the same mechanics you know and love, now with more laser beams and alien-cyborg super soldiers! x__x) I believe that they intend to continue opening up the solar system and possibly more with each successive title, potentially expanding new areas and encounters to existing locations all while improving graphical quality/server stability/etc. It wouldn't make much sense to completely overhaul existing locations, you know? But I could see them breaking down some of the invisible barriers and giving us more space to explore. If we get lucky, they will implement some of the community-suggested changes, like a map and space-flight, as well as other cool things. As DeeJ would say: Who knows what the future will hold. lol

  • Well obviously the 500m deal wasnt for what was released. If it had been we could of expected something closer to swtor in content/cinematics, but yes I understand what their game plan was. I never plan on purchasing Destiny it was a gift I came in blind dumb and happy. Then did research on it to see what I got myself in too. The game is good, this post is more of I wish and I wish they would progress this like a mmorpg. Since wow is something most ppl are familiar with lets use it as the example. I would like to see the next game they are making be an expansion(more like a mmorpg expansion content wise) mainly because the current product is great and would benefit greatly from it IMO. Expanding the world just as wow or other mmorpgs are currently still doing adding more and more content on to the foundation game. Building a massive game. Yes consoles change well so did the pc's these mmorpgs are being played on they just updated the engines to stay relatively competitive and current. Next generation and current generation consoles have the capability it just hasnt been flexed yet. Just kinda wish they would do something original for the console instead of the standard one more game in the series every year... This game isn't halo its a grinder style game and grinders benefit from longevity. .... either way thanks for the input. Always worth reading a well thought out post.

  • Well we take our guardian to the next game so they would either have to have the original content or new guardians would be unable to reach the cap. Unless they started at the cap.

  • Valid point! At that time Destiny one will have made the maximum income for sales for Bungie and mainly Activision(tradein/used games sales do not profit them) they sale Destiny 2 for standard 60 or what ever for an additional 10-15 dollars new users get Destiny 1 as a bundle. This allows for new users to come in without paying 120 dollars but by then game stop will be selling it for 15 anyways.
