Why would a second game benefit bungie? Why not do something original for consoles and create a massive game instead of small spin offs of the original? I personally would keep spending money on a game that progressively added an entire game worth of content instead of a brand new version of a game just with a new number infront of it. Eventually making the whole galaxy and most of earth playable and explorable. Would anyone agree with this? Would anyone like a console game fps that keeps growing like a pc mmorpg?
Update1: Seem like alot of people like this idea, but would you still be willing to pay the 60 for regular and 100-120 for ultimate/collector's editions of a expansion. Remember in what I am talking about is a full games worth of content. I would gladly pay that price to have an unrealistic experience, but would you?
Update 2: lots of people seem to like this idea so I think its time to address different issues people a coming up with.
1. All of the consoles have memory expansion or upgrade options which allow increased storage memory. Check your consoles support page
2. Previous gen ie ps3 and xbox 360 can't handle it. They can with reduced overal graphic settings whats currently employed for this game and any other that is on all 4 platforms. Obviously in a few years those consoles will be obsolete and players will naturally migrate to current gen consoles as support for last gen consoles disappear.
3. What about new players starting after a new "full size expansion" or FSE for short. Well currently my view on the matter is for there to be 2 options
1) allow the to purchase D1 digitally for a reduced price 20ish bucks and able to purchase FSE D2 later at regular price.
2) allow players to bundle the purchase FSE D2 with D1 and digital content for an additional price of 15-30 dollars. Bargain brains will love that.
Along with purchasing this new player/current players new characters would receive a exp boost of 2x degrading as the character gets closer to max lvl. This allows veterans and new comers alike to get from grinding and questing to being part of the action quickly with out diminishing the overall game.
4. Another big point someone brought to the table is upgrades to the overall game engine, mechanics, graphic, characters, and etc. You have to remember this is an install game its resident on your consoles hard drive. We are not playing on N64 any more. Your consoles are more or less a condensed PC. These changes can be made through massive patches and/or through the FSE installations or a combination of both . These capabilities have been employed throughout many MMOs lifespans.
I know there are grammar errors though out my post please remember I do this from my phone. Also we all know destiny 2 is on the disc so can do we get a cryptarch joke or 2.
Next update will consist of ideas for the expansions. Lets see if we can be heard.

1 ReplyThat is their intention as recall from E3, but we should only see when it's close to release.
-
2 RepliesMy understanding is there is no destiny 2 planned ever. Just a continually expanding game. I love that idea and am totally sold on it. Already have the expansion packs preordered. More games should be like this, especially sports titles like Fifa.
-
2 RepliesDestiny 2 should be a free dlc.
-
3 RepliesJust how large of a file are you ok with destiny being on your ps4? Having 2-3 full games for one on my hard drive sounds pretty shitty to me.

It is,

I am really glad I found this post because I've been thinking the exact same thing since the release. I've got a feeling that this is indeed their plan because it makes perfect sense. Why on earth would they continue to say "become legend" when your character would essentially restart after every game if they didn't release each sequel the way you've explained? It doesn't make sense. Also the level cap is rising very slowly. It could become 80 or something by the time 10 years have passed. After each game is released they would build upon the world/universe rather than section it off. If you think of it that way and remember Bungie saying that this is the biggest game they've ever built, then it makes perfect sense.

3 RepliesWell since our Guardians are saved on Bungie's servers and can move between consoles, I'm hoping that when there's a new game the Guardians we've created and the gear we've collected will carry over.
-
Agreed!!!

For those who choose to purchase this, I wish the best for you. I feel it's a slap in the face to players. I remember vanilla wow was roughly 3 years until the first expansion. Then Activision comes by and they are on a year schedule.
-
Because the half finished beta to pays for an actual game. (bunginomics)
-
Gonna have to start over for each release. Let me know how it is. I'm not giving them any more of my money.
-
The only problem is, many people won't come back to Destiny if an expansion alone is added (albeit an expansion equivalent to a sequel) if they've left the first game behind for whatever reason. A numbered sequel serves as a clear breaking point from the first game, and gives Bungie a chance to clearly say that they've learned from the past (hopefully they will) and encourage people to maybe give them another chance. It would also let Bungie focus on the newest generation of consoles and hopefully make better use of them if the Xbox 360 and PS3 are left behind.

Well the problem is...I still feel like ps3/xbox 360 is holding back Destiny. I myself love my ps3 and has countless hours of fun with my friends on the 360. Absolutely had a blast with old gen. But Destiny cannot truly offer next gen experience unless it starts building the game exclusively on next gen. Remember Battlefield 4? As broken as the game mp mode is, it supports less players in an mp match in the old gen consoles. Now we look at our public events, there is really not much of a scale into it. It is like a small encounter at best. Either the dev team is lazy and just want to milk the franchise and holding back contents. Or they really overlooked many ideas that can make public events more engaging or having a bigger scales. Or they cannot provide the same experience across different platforms. Well anyway, this is just my personal opinion.

It sounds great! Had the same thought yesterday!

Onky thing that bugs me is when, they release a new game, am i going to be able to transfer my hunter to it, because technically thats the one which my ghost said was the right one, for the war so another game might mean another ghost which means another character

-blam!-ing super bump

4 RepliesAs long as you can start a new character without having to replay the first game
-
1 ReplyIt's always been the plan to make Destiny a 4-5 game series releasing one every two years or so and DLCs in between. My only concern is if our guardians will cross over to the new games and continue on. There rises the question though, if they do that and someone only starts on Destiny 2, do they lose the opportunity to get the old stuff that we've been farming?
-
5 RepliesYou will be continuing your character. I'm tired of hearing all the cod generation players getting upset about thinking they will have to restart.
-
1 ReplyI want something like this. I just want continuity. Allow me to feel like my time spent here was not wasted. I could see something like releasing the new game with the old content and allowing progress to carry over. If not then I'm not sure I want a destiny 2.
-
Well I see some issues on how installation would behave: 4 console versions and / or 2 media versions (physical and digital) is not something so easy to take care of. And besides that, destiny 2 should be challenging both for people who start from that chapter and veterans coming from the first title. If they could find a way, I could really stick for 10 years!
-
11 RepliesYes... because I want to take up another 60+ gigs of the already limited hard drive space on my system.
-
I bet the second game will be like old Chicago instead of Russia. And as for adding it to become a massive 1 game, it's possible very possible, but economicily would make bungie bankrupt. 500gb hard drive would need to be upgraded in the new Gen. Consoles and I doubt the old consoles could handle that much info without crashing. They can't force people to upgrade their consoles to play. They are going to have to do separate games so everyone can delete unneeded info and install the new info. I have 6 games for my ps4 and have under 100gbs left. In 2 years you think your going to have room for many more games? Unfortunately with the ps4 500gbs isn't enough which was a Sony mistake, luckily they were nice enough to setup the system for easy upgrades on the hard drives.

5 RepliesI think that's what it would be, I cNt see Bungie having me start from level 1 again
-
I agree with this 100% why not do it like wow did thier game but blow it away !
