Why would a second game benefit bungie? Why not do something original for consoles and create a massive game instead of small spin offs of the original? I personally would keep spending money on a game that progressively added an entire game worth of content instead of a brand new version of a game just with a new number infront of it. Eventually making the whole galaxy and most of earth playable and explorable. Would anyone agree with this? Would anyone like a console game fps that keeps growing like a pc mmorpg?
Update1: Seem like alot of people like this idea, but would you still be willing to pay the 60 for regular and 100-120 for ultimate/collector's editions of a expansion. Remember in what I am talking about is a full games worth of content. I would gladly pay that price to have an unrealistic experience, but would you?
Update 2: lots of people seem to like this idea so I think its time to address different issues people a coming up with.
1. All of the consoles have memory expansion or upgrade options which allow increased storage memory. Check your consoles support page
2. Previous gen ie ps3 and xbox 360 can't handle it. They can with reduced overal graphic settings whats currently employed for this game and any other that is on all 4 platforms. Obviously in a few years those consoles will be obsolete and players will naturally migrate to current gen consoles as support for last gen consoles disappear.
3. What about new players starting after a new "full size expansion" or FSE for short. Well currently my view on the matter is for there to be 2 options
1) allow the to purchase D1 digitally for a reduced price 20ish bucks and able to purchase FSE D2 later at regular price.
2) allow players to bundle the purchase FSE D2 with D1 and digital content for an additional price of 15-30 dollars. Bargain brains will love that.
Along with purchasing this new player/current players new characters would receive a exp boost of 2x degrading as the character gets closer to max lvl. This allows veterans and new comers alike to get from grinding and questing to being part of the action quickly with out diminishing the overall game.
4. Another big point someone brought to the table is upgrades to the overall game engine, mechanics, graphic, characters, and etc. You have to remember this is an install game its resident on your consoles hard drive. We are not playing on N64 any more. Your consoles are more or less a condensed PC. These changes can be made through massive patches and/or through the FSE installations or a combination of both . These capabilities have been employed throughout many MMOs lifespans.
I know there are grammar errors though out my post please remember I do this from my phone. Also we all know destiny 2 is on the disc so can do we get a cryptarch joke or 2.
Next update will consist of ideas for the expansions. Lets see if we can be heard.

6 RepliesDestiny part two! already!! I haven't even played the dlc's yet the game I have if you can call it that is so lacking and since I didn't pay all the extra money up front for the "Ghost or Limited" editions its even shitter. I am so bored of the same bounties I even made two more characters that just need shards to get to level 29. The raid is crap in the fact that you have to do it as many times possible so you can get that last piece of armour to hit 30, after getting nothing but shaders, snipers, ships, etc. If my reason to buy an xbone was for destiny then that would not be a good enough reason to spend $350.00.

1 ReplyI actually posted something similar. I don't want four separate discs with different planets on each one. Give me one Giant continous experience.
-
1 ReplyI thought this whole time it would just be a huge mom and a fun game to play long term, nope. I guess they just making a new halo. Gay.
-
I wont buy it, this isn't even a full game dlc included
-
4 RepliesDestiny 2 is already on the disc tho.

Yassssss

So what do you guys think the comet is going to give us? How different will it be from the 2 dlc that we have to pay for?

10 RepliesEdited by Fox: 11/8/2014 8:43:32 PMI believe this is the direction they should've leaned towards. But for now, they're treating it like any ol' other FPS game, wasting its potential and not communicating on their long term vision clearly along the way. They've flirted with MMO and RPG elements and people have responded positively to that but then they don't take advantage of it and provide more. They have the opportunity to evolve past being a basic FPS title and they've almost flat out said they wont.

5 RepliesGames can only get so big before the console can't handle them any more. Hopefully Destiny 2 is Current Gen only, meaning it's not limited by the previous consoles.
-
4 RepliesDestiny 2 will allow them to entirely rework the mechanics of the game and add new types of experiences that aren't achievable in the current architecture. I would much rather have a new game than an expansion so real improvements can be made. Just so long as my character will transfer I am all good with it.
-
3 RepliesSo long as destiny is made for ps3 and Xbox 360, it won't just be a massive expansion for the current game. The older gen consoles most likely couldn't support it. Otherwise, it would be nice if it was just a massive expansion, but my bet is it'll be destiny 2, completely separate with all it's own dlc with perhaps transferable characters like mass effect, mostly because, hey, it's activision were talking about here.

1 ReplyDo you mean the whole Solar System? The Galaxy is massive ....
-
And keep it going in the direction of mmo, rpg like elements with crucible as secondary but please do work on crucible. More story with much needed epic scenes that can be skipped.
-
Destiny 2 by all rights most likely an expansion, similar to WoW. Probably a bit of an engine improvement, but mostly land expansion, armour, weapons, and more story. I wouldn't expect a separate game that is not connected.
-
Everything we are doing and gaining should be in some way transferable to future destiny universe. This would be in line with ten year plan and the hopeful success of destiny. I look forward to great things.
-
That would be great if they expanded each map so the worlds were explorable like a Skyrim. No more "turn back" would be amazing and enemies and loot to find all over the land.

4 RepliesI personally think it would be a massive expansion to the existing game. They spent all this time creating the planets etc , are they just going to start over again? I think they will bring in New areas to existing places, change a few old areas or open them up and likely add new planets.
-
I would prefer this as a digital user, that way 5 years from now I won't have a useless purchase in my library
-
1 ReplyYeah I agree, I like the idea of a monthly subscription for quality content too. Keep building on what they have already completed
-
1 ReplyThat wouldn't happen activist on just wants money

1 ReplyEdited by AsylumxX: 11/8/2014 7:49:56 PMI would rather buy expansions than an entirely new game as well. I really enjoy my character I don't want to abandon it just because there's a sequel. I want more to do with it. Only thing is my ps3 doesn't have enough memory for that LOL but that's fine, if it was multiple upgrades I'd be willing to upgrade to ps4 for that. c:

4 RepliesThey might do this or they'll let you continue your legend like mass effect has done in the past
-
1 ReplyThat is their intention as recall from E3, but we should only see when it's close to release.
