Why would a second game benefit bungie? Why not do something original for consoles and create a massive game instead of small spin offs of the original? I personally would keep spending money on a game that progressively added an entire game worth of content instead of a brand new version of a game just with a new number infront of it. Eventually making the whole galaxy and most of earth playable and explorable. Would anyone agree with this? Would anyone like a console game fps that keeps growing like a pc mmorpg?
Update1: Seem like alot of people like this idea, but would you still be willing to pay the 60 for regular and 100-120 for ultimate/collector's editions of a expansion. Remember in what I am talking about is a full games worth of content. I would gladly pay that price to have an unrealistic experience, but would you?
Update 2: lots of people seem to like this idea so I think its time to address different issues people a coming up with.
1. All of the consoles have memory expansion or upgrade options which allow increased storage memory. Check your consoles support page
2. Previous gen ie ps3 and xbox 360 can't handle it. They can with reduced overal graphic settings whats currently employed for this game and any other that is on all 4 platforms. Obviously in a few years those consoles will be obsolete and players will naturally migrate to current gen consoles as support for last gen consoles disappear.
3. What about new players starting after a new "full size expansion" or FSE for short. Well currently my view on the matter is for there to be 2 options
1) allow the to purchase D1 digitally for a reduced price 20ish bucks and able to purchase FSE D2 later at regular price.
2) allow players to bundle the purchase FSE D2 with D1 and digital content for an additional price of 15-30 dollars. Bargain brains will love that.
Along with purchasing this new player/current players new characters would receive a exp boost of 2x degrading as the character gets closer to max lvl. This allows veterans and new comers alike to get from grinding and questing to being part of the action quickly with out diminishing the overall game.
4. Another big point someone brought to the table is upgrades to the overall game engine, mechanics, graphic, characters, and etc. You have to remember this is an install game its resident on your consoles hard drive. We are not playing on N64 any more. Your consoles are more or less a condensed PC. These changes can be made through massive patches and/or through the FSE installations or a combination of both . These capabilities have been employed throughout many MMOs lifespans.
I know there are grammar errors though out my post please remember I do this from my phone. Also we all know destiny 2 is on the disc so can do we get a cryptarch joke or 2.
Next update will consist of ideas for the expansions. Lets see if we can be heard.

We will not stand for mediocrity! We will not throw money in bungies faces! Just watch this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ5BpeHVTWY&itct=CE4QpDAiEwju5v_bt-3BAhVYE1gKHTURAKkyC2M0LXZpZGVvcy11WhhVQ2U5QUxrTTQ0VW93dTJjQ2YtZE12T1E%3D&gl=AU&client=mv-google&hl=en#watch_actions

Edited by JDn3D: 11/9/2014 9:39:24 AMLet me keep my toons as they are. Have the level progression continue from Destiny 1. Optimally, -blam!- making the sequel and massively expand what you have, agreed op.
-
Yes, I am in total agreement.. Preach this, there is no need for sequels just expansion with the capabilities of today's system. Releasing a #2 is just a formality at this point.

4 Destiny games and supplementary DLCs are in the contract with Bungie and Activision.
-
4 RepliesThe entitlement is strong in this thread. Gotdamn millenials.
-
5 RepliesIt's pretty impractical on consoles, they don't have a good enough amount of storage to do something like that
-
4 RepliesThis is basically exactly what they are doing. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/77146799 Go look at the article in this post.

I'd like to think that they'd retain all the original content while expanding on it with a massive expansion - in this case Destiny 2. From the little bit that I've read they intend for us to keep our characters throughout the experience (anything less would be an extremely questionable move on their part). Worrying about it now won't help, we'll know more with regards to their intentions as the project develops. Let's hope they have full transparency with regards to their intentions.

7 RepliesI hate that there is a new game already in the works. I don't want to have to make new characters and explore an entirely different game. Itd only be acceptable if all the games connected in some way, whether it be a character transfer, or the massive expansion idea.
-
6 RepliesOnly way I'm getting behind Destiny 2 is if Bungie parts ways with Activision so hey can do the game the way they want to.
-
Well I would say Destiny is small enough at this point so yeah if they made Destiny 2 apart of this game and for the people who own the original get it at a bit cheaper price even if it is £5 to £10 off
-
Agreed would sound like fun if it goes in that direction
-
3 Repliestransfer character, item and level, that's all I ask for
-
10 RepliesSure. Kids want to have everything for free. It requires 2 years or more of work.
-
1 ReplyHell yea. You should have made this a pole so bungie could see the statistics...we want that game in this one.
-
THIS, i was thinking they were going to do something like wow, periodical paid expansions and then free content to supplement it. events etc. having a "destiny 2" isnt a bad idea, that way it can be a huge add on, but they should sell it so that it adds on to the current game and at point of sale D2 should include access to all of the previous content to promote sales and bring new players!
-
They could still charge 60 for it.
-
i would also buy extra content (dlc) for a game that is worth it. but for now the balance is not right. price 65% - content 35% i think i will wait for a new planet or race, for now the price is just too high for this game (+dlc) compared to the content it has.
-
It would be my dream game!!

1 ReplyEdited by Mugen141: 11/8/2014 10:51:02 PMActivision owns bungies ass now. There's no way they're making it an expansion when they could charge more for a full relase. They're adapting The CoD model to this game. Over hype, relase, lack of content, over priced dlc advertised day one, promise next game will be better, relase next game, minor changes with little or no improvment, repeat. Make bank $$$$$
-
In the contract Bungie signed they plan to release something similar to that next year, and every other year following, along with a Disk-based expansion on the story the year after each massive DLC release. I believe in the contract the massive DLC was referred to as a "comet" My biggest concern is will it be possible to transfer our saves over to the next game.
-
This would be great.
-
i completely agree i will spend the money over the next ten years because i absolutely love this game but if i have to physically put another disc in to play other levels i will be pissed and mot likely stop playing
