All I have to ask is do you Develop games for a living?
What makes you an expert?
Do you have any idea what it takes.
I guess you don't know then that dlc content put on a disk is common practice.
It saves the developers and consumers time and money.
Smaller download, which is easier for those with monthly caps, and others who don't have super fast speeds.
And this isn't skyrim
I didn't like skyrim
I couldnt finish it because like oblivion, it get extremely repetitive, and boring
And if you only did the story, it's not all that long either.
You have no evidence to back anything you say. You are just comin up with conspiracy theories.

The comparison with Skyrim is relevant given that both teams of developers had the same amount of time to make the game. Skyrim is epic in size, story, and quality with multiple stories and quests of different variety for those who make the effort to play it. You say Skyrim is repetitive, but every quest is different from the last, with its own story, its own NPCs, its own unique environment. There are literally tons of items and tremendous variety for forming your own highly personalised character and living environment. There are items to collect and display. Items for fun. Items for realism. All manner of foods, potions, herbs, ingredients. For crying out loud, every book can be opened and read to learn more about the lore of the game! Now that is epic story telling! If you think Skyrim is repetitive, then you must absolutely hate Destiny (cause it is the most repetitive game I've ever played. It is basically FarmVille with better graphics and guns). Destiny is a shell of a game; a great shooter with good graphics but lacking in just about every other way. The proof is in the pudding. Compared with other games, Destiny fails. Game comparison is a totally legitimate way to evaluate games. We expect next generation games like Destiny to build upon and improve upon the games that have gone before them. Devs should stand on the shoulders of giants. Look, I really enjoy the shooting and vistas, but that's about it. The ratings reflect general public feeling concerning the game.

Well then go play skyrim Problem solved. I actually like destiny better. The quests in skyrim all became the same thing over and over, and once I got high enough level, I just stealth and one shot everything, and talk about dumb a.I. They be right on top of my, tripping over me and still not see me. It's a different game. So what if the development time is the same length. It's funny how all these people who never worked in the gaming industry seem to be all experts. I trust those I know in the industry over neckbeards and kids who have nothing better to do with their time coming up with conspiracy theories. It's so simple. If you want to compare this game to another. And say the other is better, then why the hell are yas not playing the other. I don't play games I don't like. I enjoy destiny I didn't follow any if the hype which may help, but they never promised anyone anything like so many say. Show me the video where they said they promised "well they advertised at e3 and said we could do this" No, they didn't advertise anything. Show me their ads that were on TV, and magazines, where they stated these promises. E3 is ment to show off, and serve as a tech demo It's a product that's not finish, so expect changes. If people want to be mad, or play the blame game, then blame yourselves for being ignorant to how the gaming industry works. As I mentioned I know quite a few in the industry and when u brought these concerns up with them, such as dlc being on the disk, they actually got mad because of how stupid and ignorant people are, and instead of actually research, they just jump on the band wagon and believe everything some fool behind the keyboard thinks

I didn't follow the hype either. I bought Destiny sometime after launch. I expected Destiny to be this way from the game itself. Worlds to explore with a spaceship, other races to fight and learn about, gear and weapons to find and collect, lore and storytelling, and plenty of grinding: the game has RPG written all over it. But, in the final analysis, it fails to deliver. Initially, I was like this is the best game I've ever played, but then I realised that isn't the case. In truth, it has the best potential of any game I've ever played. This game has the most potential to be the greatest of its generation, but it doesn't quite reach it. Don't get me wrong, I think the game is great and I enjoy playing it (anyone who likes Halo will enjoy destiny purely for the FPS aspect), but I feel that it could be a world better than it currently is. Look, appealing to authority is a logical fallacy, just because someone isn't a specialist in a particular field doesn't mean they can't have valid options and arguments about a given subject. Just because people on the forums are not game developers (though some of them probably are), doesn't mean they can't have valid opinions about the game itself. Gamers know their games. People are entitled to express feedback and feelings about the game if they so wish (Google 'Freedom of Speech'). Bungie even encourage it. For sure, Deej doesn't single-handedly read every post on the forums, but feedback in general is noted by devs for all aspects of the game (from advertising, to launch, to the game itself), to improve current games and plan for future games. Skyrim isn't perfect, but it is a great model for other gaming companies to follow. It is one of the most iconic games on last gen consoles (that's true even if you don't like it). This is not about being right or wrong. Its about expressing our opinions so that next generation games actually fit the bill and the gamers get good value for money.

Edited by Krynn007: 11/6/2014 7:55:05 PMI can agree with your first few paragraphs. Destiny is a great game, and does have some short comings. Your right and wrong with the rest if your statement. The gaming community has a right to express disappointment. But to make blatant accusations with 0 proof other than conspiracy theories, and trying to over analyze every single detail about the game is wrong. I wish the game was better in a lot of ways. Story is shallow. Story is short No in game clan options. Having to use the website to create, join, and interact with the clan To me those are valid things to complain about. Random loot. I actually hate the lvl system from 20-30. Being based off gear, it is technically possible that someone that starts playing tomorrow could hit 30 before me who been playing since day one all because of luck. Valid reasons imo to Bitch and complain. But comparing to other games. No. Like I said, if he really think so, then -blam!- off and go play something else. Content being cut and sold to us as dlc. Don't see the evidence. Dlc on disk is standard practice, it's not cut content. Which is why I say people are stupid and ignorant because if they had some idea about the industry they would know that already But what I can't stand is how people like the original poster and many others on here Bitch, and moan and complain about this game when they actually have no idea about the process. The whole dlc being on the disk complaint is a perfect example. People I personally k know who work in the business, and others on these forums who do as well have all told me the same thing. The content that is on the disk is not cut content that the neckbeards and kids seem to think. It's standard practice now a days. It saves them time and money. It saves us money. Less to download for those.with monthly caps and slower speeds. Dlc content is started well before the game is released, so if some of it has the green light before releasing the game, why not put it on the disk? That's just a win win for both parties, then when the dlc is released its less download for everyone. So this is why I can't stand people who are crying about how they feel they are getting ripped off. This is why I ask do you work in the industry? Because they are crying about something they have no freaking clue about. Just some fat prick probably unemployed with too much time on his hands, sitting behind a keyboard over analysing every single detail. Making accusations and coming up with conspiracy theories. I love my job and I take a lot of pride in my work. If someone tells me I did a half ass job when I didn't I'd be pissed, especially if that person doesnt even have a clue about what it takes to complete my job. I'd probably be arrested on assault charges I have to hand it to bungie workers. I don't think I could do their job With all their effort put into it for us to enjoy and then play it and Bitch about it at the same time Reminds me if a 16 year old crying how he hates to eat broccoli while shoving it down this throat the same time Dont like it, don't -blam!-ing eat it, Thus game is not skyrim so I don't see the need to bring that up Destiny is its own game. If the original poster really feels that way, then go play skyrim. I don't play games I don't like. I hate cod. I don't play it and then Bitch about how much better battlefield is. I just play battlefield.

Yeah. I see where your coming from. I'm not to keen on the conspiracy theory idea, but I think it comes from the desire to see Destiny to fulfil its potential. Anyway, I'm still playing cause I love the shooting. It is the most fluid shooter I've ever played. I hope the expansions and update deal with some of the problems and ideas discussed in these forums.
-
Your right. Ya, it's repetitive and even so, there is something that keeps drawing me back to it. Unlike games like skyrim, I get bored before I finish it because I'm like to try to complete everything I can before finishing. I had hoped more story from the dlc, so little disappointed there, but will likely buy anyway, unless I get too busy.

Yeah. It has an addictive quality for sure. Just need to get that one more bounty done, a few more strikes and I'll fill my Vanguard for the week, need more shards ... It keeps you hooked. I got hundred of hours out of Skyrim though. I am a major RPG fan though and I love epic fantasy (Tolkien, Pat Rothfuss, George R. R. Martin). So Skyrim was perfect for me. Destiny is a dream come true too 'cause I love space. When I was doing my undergraduate degree, I lived with a friend studying planetary space science and I got really interested in physics. When Destiny came out I was like 'Ooooooooh this looks funky! I get to go to Mars and Venus!!!' :-D
