I see a lot of people engaging a tug of war with these comparisons, and it's frustrating to read, since these sorts of debates are a lot like arguing over which is better, red or blue. I try to look at this in terms of what I'm getting for my dollar. Skyrim released two sets of DLC. Dawnguard wasn't bad, but did involve the use of a number of already existing areas. But Dragonborn, now that was an expansion. More content than the entire Destiny game, twice over. From what I've seen of the Destiny content, it's hard not to feel a bit cheated. I don't care if it was in the original game coding; what I do care about is that there is so little there, on top of the fact that the base game is a tad skimpy as well.
Will people buy it? Who knows. Activision sells a lot of CoD map packs, and they're about as skimpy as you can get. If not for a few friends still playing to get to the raid, I probably would have left Destiny behind by now for those reasons.
