POLL: SHOULD BUNGIE IMPLIMENT A TRADE SYSTEM?

Yes

8042

No

10172

if you are for or against state why. bungie has formally stated they will never and have no intentions of implimenting one, but maybe if enough of the forum pop agrees or disagrees they could in a perfect world listen. I believe there should be. not for the players or to fix the shitty loot system, but for bungie to keep it's gamers. From a PR standpoint your loot system is flawed, and you have no intent on changing it, so let the players fix it by letting them trade. the game is at a point where there is little to no real world value on raid gear or loot if you are saying there's no trade for RWT prevention.

    • Trading would ruin destiny. Some friends and I bought a USB memory card from Lik Sang for Phantasy Star Online on Gamecube and destroyed the entire economy in less than 24 hours. You want a BKB or Spread Needle come see me!

      • Almost all trades would be for gjallarhorns or hawkmoons and ToO primaries, and they would be in such a high demand that people would start extorting the sales for money. The perceived value of certain items far outweighs the item value that could be recieved in return, no trade system can possibly be balanced enough to be worth the time it would take to implement. There will never be a straight up item for item trade between players while there are things with as much community value as gjallarhorn.

        • While I do wish i could give my friends the exotics that I don't use, I don't think trading should enter Destiny as it is. Weapon drops are a significant incentive to play. Current drop rates are based on only individual experiences. If Bungie wanted to preserve weapon rarity in an environment with trading then drop rates would have to be lowered, probably significantly. Significantly decreasing the drop rate to offset trading could make lone-wolf, casual play drastically less appealing in a game where people already face the social challenge of finding other players to do even three-man content. Allowing trading without decreasing drop rates would give all players access to more guns in drastically less time, potentially decreasing the interest of collectors or completionists to keep playing. These potentially volatile issues coupled with the cost of development for a feature they couldn't justifiably sell means I would be incredibly, incredibly surprised if Bungie implemented a trade system into Destiny 1. I am all for the idea of being able to "shuffle" loot disributed through victory screens to other players. I think it sounds more feasible than a trade system, but I wouldn't hold my breath for an implementation of that system, either.

        • Yes, they should. Also, just to get my advertising out there before they implement it. WTS gjallarhorn, $500. Fatebringer, $300. Lord of Wolves, $700.
no...terrible idea.
• Depends. Exotic for exotic of similar gear type (primary for primary, helm for helm) Or simply exotic for exotic (hawkmoon for gally. Etc) No trading of quest items No raid item trading unless it's from similar raid No legendary for exotic (can only trade items with similar rarity) No raid exotic trading No quest exotics

In principle... NO... In practice... YES... but, there is a big BUT here. There should be a value attached to an item, not user set value but system set value. If item A is rare in population and item B is common in population they can only be traded if you offer sufficient amount of item B for item A in a batter like system trade. So, someone cannot just give you their spare exotic for a single resource material or something like that. Exotic can only be traded for exotic and even then not all exotics are equal. The alternative to it would be a trade option at the end of multiplayer activity. So you just finished a raid/arena, you got item A and your fire team mate got item B… you should be permitted to trade one for the other in a summary screen of some kind at the end of it all.

            • No. I don't have a lot of experience with multiplayer games, but I've seen what trading did to Team Fortress and Warframe. Well, alright, the Team Fortress economy hasn't affected the spirit of the game per se, because the entire market is about cosmetics, as the guns don't make much difference. But the Warframe economy is ridiculous, and a perfect example of how something that could help players is corrupted and monopolized by a lucky few. People get off on hoarding things and ripping off noobs. It's disgusting. You would think that simple trading between humble players would be possible, but the means implemented for trading in-game is like dipping into a pool full of bloodthirsty sharks. So no, I think trading should not be added to Destiny. Xur's presence is good enough. I am frustrated that I don't have the Mythoclast yet, and that it's likely i'll never get the exotic weapon bounty for House of Wolves exotics. But being able to buy them would feel cheap.

            • To be blunt: Those that say no or are really against the idea of just adding it without alterations are caring about the games health Those that say yes are either stuck not getting an exotic they want (or now even old IB gear with old perks) or want to make bank with the collection they have made.

            • In the original Destiny there was trading, but Activision cut it, so destiny could be rated for teens... I can't imagine why, lol, but apparently Activision thought kids would be taken advantage of...

First xur most likely can not sell weapons or armor any more, if he continued in a trade society, top 20%players would have full monopoly (or for that matter any one with enough coins). Instead xur could sell bounties and new armor bounties could be implemented to augment the story. Secondly, trading can only be done on a tier equilibrium. In other words, lets say joe the hunter has a bad juju, but wants a red death, and it turns out albert the warlock will trade. However tom the titan comes and wants to trade an old secret handshake (legendary shot gun). Tom and joe's trade would be null and void since it falls between two tiers while joe's and albert's trade would be fine. Finally their would have to be definite exchange rates for materials. So no matter what 1000 glimmer = 5 strange coins, 1 strange coin = 1 mote of light. Etc. Also older gear has higher price. So for instance, lets say a level 24 needs a legendary and I have my old nerigal savant. Normally for current gear it would be 10 coins, but since it is now rare the price could double or triple. And the more beefed out a piece of gear is the more it costs. Also maybe we should consider implementing gambling on crucible matches or sparrow/ship races. I mean, considering that sparrows, ships, and class items have rarity, and sparrows have stats its blatantly obvious they may have considered this. Off the topic, just fathom if class items actually had stats and contributed to gameplay. For example, the warlock bond emerald light states that due to it's nature, the hive will dismiss you as one of their own. Just think of it, as long as you didn't sprint or show aggression the hive wouldn't attack you. Or for the union of consensus, it instantaneously adds +100 intellect. These mechanics would be amazing. They could even extend to armor. Such as any time ahamkara gear is equipped it adds murmurs and distorts what you see the longer you utilize it, even where it (in pve) could allow one to distort the reality of the game by little or exponentially all dependant on if the armor is maxed, and how long you utilize it and not die, and when on venus it corrupts your radar always pointing to a false destination. Certain vex gear causes you to be incapable of hurting vex, or when on venus have visions. It would be amazing

                  • I think it'd be good to have trading, but they'd also have to balance it. A piece of exotic armor for a piece of exotic armor, an exotic weapon for exotic weapon, legendary armor for legendary armor, so on so forth.

                  • Very limited trading, yes. Maybe during a rewards screen after a Nightfall or other similar event. Be nice to be able to trade something that I already have, to a teammate who has never seen the item drop for them.

I don't see what would be so worth trading, there really isn't much of a economy in Destiny. Only thing i could see people going after is exotics, but even then it's not that large of a market.

                  • Definitely not. I could support an exchange merchant. 2 motes and 500 glimmer to exchange a legendary primary for a random legendary primary. 5 motes and 1000 glimmer to exchange an exotic primary for a ranging exotic primary. That sounds useful, while not destroying a sense of accomplishment or causing a problem with black markets.
