If only DC could get their shit together
It's pretty clear Marvel has successfully connected their characters while keeping a good timeline continuity across their movies
DC on the other hand has been coming out with awesome movies like The Dark Knight trilogy to pure shit like Jonas Hex
They need to unify and get their universe together
They need a solid team of screenwriters and directors to pull the DC universe together
David S Goyer and Christopher Nolan should be screenwriter and producer overseeing most projects
We're barely starting to see DC come together in Batman v Superman while Marvel is already ten steps ahead of them
Marvel movies are pretty awesome but DC characters (in my opinion) offer a way better range of stories and potential
If only they would get it together
That rant now over, I can't wait for these Marvel movies
They have their shit down
Now if only they can get Spider Man and X men to come back to the Marvel cinematic universe
Yeah DC is here and there. But at least they made one good serious Batman trilogy. Then a good Supeman one where he wasn't invincible. Just couldn't be scratched
-
I always think they're going to use Ben affleck batman, the new superman, the arrow (TV show) and the flash (TV show) for justice league. Or so I hope
-
Aren't those the same people who made Smallville? Cause that show had the justice league and apparently superman and Flash are best friends. The Arrow in Smallville was cooler.
-
Warner Bros. Doesn't want the Flash and Arrow from tv in their universe. They are separating both and WB is introducing their own Flash who is going to be played by Ezra Miller in 2018. It's a shame since both Arrow and the Flash are doing great on TV and i already like the TV flash.
-
But those shows are so corney and over dramatic. WB just wants to make a great action hero movie, not a soap opera as those other 2.
-
I respect your opinion but the shows have gotten pretty action-packed, The flash just started airing and is doing well and Arrow too. The Flash movie doesn't come until 2018 so we can't know how WB will take their approach to this movie.

Edited by car15: 10/29/2014 8:21:16 PMOh my God. No. Just because it works for Marvel doesn't mean DC should try to copy it. That's exactly what they're doing, of course, but I think it's a mistake. DC movies have worked fine on their own (Man of Steel, Dark Knight) because their characters are, generally speaking, more complex and interesting than Marvel's. Marvel is where you go for unapologetic balls-to-the-wall action scenes, explosions, and cool armor. Every movie follows the same formula. It's popcorn action chiseled to perfection and churned out on an assembly line. DC is where you go for gritty complex drama and genre-bending superhero films. It's raw, innovative, and dynamic. No two DC heroes are alike, and consequently, no two DC films are alike. It's art-house award bait that takes time and effort to get right and doesn't lend itself to being franchised very successfully. Simply trying to copy Marvel's formula is only going to hurt DC. It doesn't do anything to distinguish their brand from Marvel. The shared universe model doesn't accommodate DC's strengths as a brand and it's a huge mistake for them to adopt it. Mark my words.

That's not what I'm saying I'm saying that DC should get their shit together Their movies have been all over the place with no clear connection Just have them be unified

Edited by car15: 10/29/2014 9:23:55 PMYou mean separate universes? I like that. The shared universe model has strengths, but it forces each of the films to conform to a common timeline, which can create a conflict of interests in the writer's room between what's best for the protagonist versus what's best for the general timeline.
Just because it works for Marvel doesn't mean DC should try to copy it.
They don't have to, DC needs to establish their movies to fit in a universe like Marvel's.
That's exactly what they're doing, of course, but I think it's a mistake.
Indeed but they are following a different approach, only the films will have an established universe unlike Marvel's Movie/TV approach. Their universe is going to be more controlled. Is not a mistake if they have a back-up plan.
DC movies have worked fine on their own (Man of Steel, Dark Knight) because their characters are, generally speaking, more complex and interesting than Marvel's.
Debatable, While the Dark knight trilogy did amazing MoS was only successful in the box office but got mixed reviews, myself included. MoS was a great reboot that's for sure and Henry cavill did a great Superman but the plot, the whole depressive tone and weird plotholes damaged the movie. Hell BvS is going to be the movie to break out the DC cinematic universe unlike MoS. As for the characters being more interesting than Marvel again debatable. Both universes have a gigantic list of characters from the comics, all had an origin and have their own troubles. Both DC and Marvel have very well known heroes and a great portion of uknown characters. Calling DC more complex and interesting than Marvel is a "fanboy" opinion.
Marvel is where you go for unapologetic balls-to-the-wall action scenes, explosions, and cool armor. Every movie follows the same formula. It's popcorn action chiseled to perfection and churned out on an assembly line.
Not really, yes they do have a formula and its the same formula as every other super hero movie. Batman begins had the same formula, MoS had the same formula, Iron Man has the same formula, Captain America has the same formula. The sequels on the other hand tend to break out of this formula. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't (The dark knight and Captain America the winter soldier are perfect examples of this.)
DC is where you go for gritty complex drama and genre-bending superhero films. It's raw, innovative, and dynamic. No two DC heroes are alike, and consequently, no two DC films are alike.
Let me remind you of Green Lantern and you can't compare two DC films without an established universe with two Marvel films established in a universe.
It's art-house award bait that takes time and effort to get right and doesn't lend itself to being franchised very successfully.
Em DC is already a franchise, hence why people know so much about it. Also it would benefit both DC comics and Warner bros. to make this established universe for DC a franchise and lets not forget that if they succed they can make more amazing movies.
Simply trying to copy Marvel's formula is only going to hurt DC.
It won't since they are taking the same idea with a different approach.
It doesn't do anything to distinguish their brand from Marvel. The shared universe model doesn't accommodate DC's strengths as a brand and it's a huge mistake for them to adopt it.
Except it will be on the contrary, if BvS is a success it will push DC comics to the moon just like Marvel did with Iron Man. The DC TV universe already has an amazing connection (Arrow and flash for now with both making great ratings, also there is the atom in Arrow and flash has killer frost coming soon.)

Agree, Marvel has done an amazing job with his universe but i want to see DC make an amazing lineup. Batman Vs. Superman is going to be the judge of that and hopefully it doesn't bomb. As for Spiderman there are rumors about negotiations between Sony and Marvel to incorporate Spidey in their universe with the sinister six movie being the deciding factor. X-men on the other hand is not going to leave FOX's greedy hands ( Days of future past was amazing tho).
