A Collective Brain Storm and Discussion... Hopefuly
I have been playing destiny now for a bit and through the vast amount of complainers and ones wishing for more or less of a certain thing I have been surprised to see a few additions not making an appearance so far. What I am talking about are specific vendors or other NPCs that could have more to offer in their wares than the usual gun or more guns. Quite honestly, the only thing I see for glimmer to be used for other than a few overpriced items is to change the skin of your ship (which if you haven't noticed does nothing for gameplay). Yes there are shaders but even those are a change in skin for your character. The game makes me feel as if the gaudiness are a guild tasked with holding their ground and taking it back from the forces that crippled the guardian, so why is it that they seem like a bunch of lone wolves instead of a community that fights for the same cause?
I've seen this before on many games but never in a loot based game which pairs you up for most things with other people to complete a task. Often this lone wolf style doesn't fit well with cooperative play and it can show its colors in the attitude of the player base as well. Look around here, we have so many people screaming until their eyeballs pop out of their heads in anger that their favorite gun was nerffed or that someone on their team was not as good as they were in a game. Its toxic and we all have heard much of it before this silly little post came to be.
What we need is a way to shift the community from a rage induced mob of angry fallen, to a more cooperative group that would like to play a game both as a community and a single player. What we need are gameplay mechanics that nudge us in the right direction in this regard.
For your convenience I'll simply ask these questions and allow for a discussion (hopefully not a fire fight) to ensue in the comments....
1. What is the argument against a trading system or other ways of spending glimmer.
- such things could be re-rolling your look, or maybe a tweak to specific aspects of gameplay that are already in use (coding is a long and grueling thing) a completely new idea or addition would probably not be able to be implemented due to its work.
-A trading system or auction house would allow the flow of materials and goods between friends but raise problems of their own (see link for some knowledge!)
2. What would allow for teams to be better able to meet up or join each other
-there have been many posts that mention this, a while ago a guy from Reddit even showed his ideas for a better interface that gave very cool additions to this idea but alas i cannot remember his name of the post he had. Regardless, cudos to him.
3. Team PvE experience and additions for future content such as bosses or story lines
- Yes this is probably a stretch, but what would we want to see as a team based struggle that would rely on the teamwork of your party. The VOG is a good example of this, as if you were to go in blindfolded and alone you wouldn't get past the front door... literally. What ideas could be given to add to this? If we even wanted to add to it in the first place? (and yes this is the part where you yell dinosaurs and rainbow guns to your post).
To keep this simple lets have everyone start their reply with the number of the question your are responding to just so its a bit more organized instead of a jumbled mess of answers.
For a final say, this game has potential to be a great one, but it first must decide between the two genres its is walking on. MMO, or FPS that has team based gameplay at its core such as "Borderlands"with missions you may repeat and grind at your leisure. Its up to you guys and gals to decide for yourself which one is more applicable.
See you around space cowboy...
