Maybe a seperate planet specifically for an open pvp system?
English

Mercury?
-
Well at first I thought tht too but I think that bungie is gonna use tht planet for some sort of vex super base. This is based on what ur ghost says about it. How the vex turned it into a machine in days. Maaaybe like Neptune or something...?
-
Jupiter sounds fun for a big pvp only planet. The big storms & such could make for interesting multiplayer maps
-
It would be hard to fight there given the planet is gaseous.
-
Doesn't mean that it doesn't have a core of rock or ice. All that gas needs a base in which to gravitate to. It wouldn't make much sense to just have a mass of different gases and then label it a "planet" of any form.
-
I'm sure it does have a solid core of something... That isn't helpful.
-
Don't really see why not? Wouldn't it be interesting to be able to walk on an ice planet that could possibly change environment with breaking ice. All the while not actually being able to see space, due to the gas cloud. Maybe blocking radio contact/transmitting so now sparrow use? It's only of no help, if you have no creativity.
-
An icy environment would be neat. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europa_(moon)
-
Fair enough. Just saying, because it's a gas giant, doesn't mean it doesn't have an iron core surrounded by ice. More than the one option, either way. Id still like to see an ice planet, even though I quit the game a week or two ago.
-
Its too much of a mental stretch to have jupiter solid AND retain its iconic look. It would better serve as a massive figure in the skybox of one if its moons. A research station within its atmosphere would be awesome though.
-
I don't think it's too much of a stretch. Not really that hard to comprehend. If you can believe that space robots came from a shitty space orb, it's not that hard to understand that a gas planet has a solid in the middle.
-
Of course it has a solid in the middle. That's not the issue.
-
You just said it was too much of a mental mental stretch for people to believe it has an ice core, but still retain its look. Sounded like the issue to me? I don't disagree it would be easier to use a moon, but I'm just saying they could use Jupiter and have it be pretty unique.
-
That is not what i said.
-
Not exactly. But it was pretty implied.
-
Nope. It was not an implication of what i actually said.
-
If you say so. I made my point, and you said it was a mental stretch for it to have a core and still retain its iconic look. If thats not what you meant, then by all means, please elaborate.
-
I never said solid core was the problem. Jupiter could have a solid core now. But having Jupiter become an environment suitable for play would require massive changes to it solid core notwithstanding. Those changes would absolutely change the iconic exterior look of that planet. Having us walk around the surface of Jupiter and have it retain its appearance would be a massive mental stretch. Are there options? Sure. We could walk around on a hypothetical solid core, but that would require other changes to Jupiter's atmosphere changing its iconic appearance. An observation station in atmosohere would be fine. One or more of Jupiters moons would be fine too.
-
So you did imply exactly what I said. And they wouldn't really have to change anything. As you said, it's a sci if fantasy game. They can do whatever they want. You know how Venus was changed into a machine in days? Yeah. Can't be that hard.

Edited by pajama dad: 10/27/2014 5:37:33 PMAgain, no. I just said that having a solid core would NOT interfere with the iconic look of Jupiter as it possibly has a solid core now. Thats the implication of my most recent post.
-
You exactly said "it's too much of a mental stretch for Jupiter to have a solid core AND retain its iconic look". That's exactly point for point what you said. I don't get what you don't understand about that.

Edited by pajama dad: 10/27/2014 10:27:01 PMHere's the actual quote:
Its too much of a mental stretch to have jupiter solid AND retain its iconic look. It would better serve as a massive figure in the skybox of one if its moons. A research station within its atmosphere would be awesome though.
I never said core. You're misreading and misquoting.
-
Yeah but they can say the traveler have them the ability to do this-or-that just like venus
-
Venus is different. Its a solid planet.
-
It's sifi fantasy... I'm sure they figure out a way to say it was made possible lol. Just like how "you were dead a long time" before your ghost revived you, because you know, you were filled with "light".
