Posted by: AssCancer My PC, over the last few months, has been turning off when doing slightly over than normaly strenuous applications. Whenever I am trying to burn a DVD, midway through, it turns off. When I want to restart it, it beeps around 7 times in rapid succession and my monitor stays in standby mode, just as if the computer wasn't ever turned on. Sometimes days go by with the computer doing the same thing. Eventually it works, but it is turning on and working less and less. Help?
Your processor is most likely overheating. When you run a lot of application, the processor has to work that much harder to keep them running. Suggestions: -If your computer is in a crowded or unventilated area, move it. This will permit the heat to escape from the tower. -Take your computer to your nearest repair shop and have them look at it. Because your computer has failed and shutdown multiple times, you may have ruined the processor.

I'm sorry to revive this thread, but I could really use some help right about now. This recent thread I posted gives the jist of what happened Basically, these recent Vista updates (17 of them!) keep trying to reinstall themselves and I don't know how to make them stop. Every time I try to shut down, there's that annoying little update icon next to the Start menu's power off button that says "Installs updates and then shuts down your computer", so I don't see any way around this. Note: I started up in safe mode, and the event viewer gave me these error codes to do with the updates; 0x800f0816 for update KB953838 (IE7 security update) 0x80242016 for update KB951072 (Vista update) 0x800f0816 again for update KB953733 (Vista update again) 0x800f0816 again for update KB950974 (Vista security update) Any help is appreciated.

ANyways you go into ubuntu set up and go into partitioner and delete the partition on your main hard drive and create a new one ext3 partition and that's all
Posted by: DDRmaster Let's see someone tackle this one. I just bought a Striker II 780i Motherboard for my new computer, and it works great, except for the audio card. It's integrated, which automatically means it'll be lame, however, I didn't think I'd have any problems. The audio card is called "SupremeFX". However, here's the situation. The audio card can either run off of HD Audio or AC97, I chose AC97. The issue is that it doesn't support ASIO drivers, so any sort of MIDI interface I may use will lag to Hell. This is a MAJOR problem as I'm a bedroom producer of electronic music, so I end up doing ALL of it with my computer. My question is: Is there an ASIO driver specifically for this audio card? If not, will making the switch to HD Audio allow ASIO driver support for my audio? FIGURE THAT OUT!
Need to know what OS you are using before I can look into it anymore. EDIT: Sorry Flood, I must retire for the night. I have jacked up my sleep patterns enough over the last few days and I need to get back on track. See you tomorrow. [Edited on 08.18.2008 9:20 PM PDT]

I have not heard that about dell. As for your LCD screen, I would advise you use this. I use this at my computer repair shop all the time and it works extremely well. By the way, don't use water to clean your screen. It leaves nasty spots on your screen.

It isn't hard, but it is an extensive process which would take up a lot of room on the forum.

You don't have to worry about the amount of posts, I don't think there has been a post we didn't answer. As for your issues with AOL, are you saying you have them as your ISP? Because if you are, then you can automatically kiss Xbox Live goodbye, no questions asked. Or if you are using it as your internet browser, get rid of it. Instead, install Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox.
