Edited by LordOfPit: 10/15/2014 1:50:53 AM$500,000 should be enough for more powerful servers. Another option could be to temporarily "inject" other players into our friend lists and remove them later unless we specify otherwise.

Edited by Latch: 10/15/2014 1:57:26 AMhalf a million huh? well a decent home server costs around $500 lets say thats about the power needed for 3 people to play Destiny together seamlessly with all the features that means that would buy 100,000 servers that comes to 300,000 people Destiny is played daily by 3.2 million according to their statistics now developer level servers (more like server rooms) probably have a little more power than a home server (joke) and the capacity that they run at and constant maintenance needed (obviously from the error codes) would stretch that $500.000 budget into pennies easily not to mention there are 4 different sever types (ps3 ps4 xb360 xb1)

Edited by LordOfPit: 10/15/2014 2:13:18 AMIt's all about virtual machines these days. Entire databases are running in VM's and there's no reason VoIP servers can't. But... let's say you're right. There's always Voice Commands that could be tied to vocal cues and catch-phrases our characters could yell to one another and Bungie could add more with each patch. Where there's a Will, there's a Way!

double post lol regardless the protocol has to run parallel to the game's so as to prevent chat lag there is a way but not in the capacity Destiny is capable of at the moment. the purest form of Destiny in the vision of the devs is 10 years beyond our current technology...and conveniently they made a 10 year plan for Destiny :P
the purest form of Destiny in the vision of the devs is 10 years beyond our current technology...and conveniently they made a 10 year plan for Destiny :P
LOL 😎 Thing is... they cut corners on everything in Destiny thus proving the whole next-gen just ain't ready yet.

Edited by Latch: 10/15/2014 2:20:27 AMwell i would argue the last gen consoles are going to hold the next gens back because the 360 and ps3 have so much life left in them especially if you use yours as a dvd/internet/youtube/netlfix machine why would i want to pay $500 for a glorified dvd player with video game features that i can talk to? (or have a touch pad for PS people)

Apparently for one thing and one thing only... exclusives.
