How was your first night in the Iron Banner?

Seeking constructive feedback. Tell me about your experience. Please stay on topic. Were you detecting an advantage attributed to your more powerful gear and weapons? Did the experience feel different than standard Crucible combat? Talk to me, Guardians. UPDATE: I know people quit games when they know they won't win. I'm more curious about your perceptions for how the power-level advantages work. Help me help you. Stay on target!

    I know it's a long post Deej, and i 'do' like the concept of Iron Banner, but the rewards made me feel cheated.. honest feedback. My constructive improvement suggestions near the end... Also i did feel the difference, not a lot, but i did notice when i played around with light levels. Mainly by some players still being alive with a smidge of health after being shot with the same amount of hits which would kill someone else. It felt 'marginly' easier with higher light level, though at the end of the day, it's still down to our ability to land shots, and who can do it faster and more accurately. I hit rank 5 on the 16th, been playing many many matches and the only drops i've had have been: bond x2 sidearm pulse rifle While that may seem good.. when you consider that I've been off work sick so was able to pretty much be on it all day long each day, game after game over 5 days so far.. that's lame as hell. The droprate is terrible.. I've 'rarely' seen other players get legendaries either. Bungie said in the News article: Destiny Update - 10/13/2015 1 - Game completion rewards have been reworked to be a more valid source for Iron Banner rewards 2 - End-of-match rewards now include both weapons and armor (including items available on Lord Saladin) 1 implies that we should reliably be able to get rewards, the facts it's Iron Banner would imply it's specific rewards, hence why i would assume it's Legendary rewards. 4 drops in 5 full days of play is quite frankly proof statement 1 is false. 2 implies that we would be able to have the chance to get 'all' the armour and weapons as a means of drops. This is due to the bracketed sentence. It states it would 'include' the sold items, it doesn't say it would 'only' drop the sold items. So this too is false. Simply put, the information we were provided with was very flawed and misleading and has led to many of us wasting our time for items that simply will not drop for 'anyone'. To say i'm feeling cheated is an understatement. I don't mind grinding for gear.. but this is overkill, and ultimately for nothing as nothing is even dropping for other people. I like the idea of Iron Banner.. however the improvements i would make are: 1. Make 'the full armour set' available from Saladin so we can 'choose' what to buy. (Due to the marks we'd have to be selective anyway). 2. Make it attainable through drops. The playtime to drop ratio would absolutely have to improve! Remember.. the event is only on for 1 week Bungie, and there is only so much time in the day people can game, we have lives and jobs outside of the game.. Due to imposing such a limited time to play, if you are going to offer 'drops' then make the droprates more reasonable for the limited amount of time people have to play those matches. At present, Iron Banner reward system is unrealistic for gamers to be rewarded adequately for the time they invest. That is why i believe this Iron Banner has been terrible. (Coming from someone who generally enjoys it). I doubt i will bother next time around unless proper changes are made. It's just not worth the time i've spent on it.     • I really did not notice a difference between the Light levels. It really just feels like any other crucible exclusive to level 40 Guardians. I personally think it should NOT matter what your Light is. You want Iron Banner competitive? Then there should not be advantages or handicaps given.

    • Hey Deej, Got three decent rewards getting all the way from rank 1-5 however they were all the same reward (wolf cloak) thank you though for giving us probably one of the best pvp pulse rifles in the game gg. However (I know you're going to address this) but server lag and the people lagging the server were terrible. Also, maybe you can address this issue: if I go in party chat I find that I lag. However if I find I go into game chat I won't lag at all asides from when the hose goes retarded for a few seconds and causes everyone to lose their nuts. I didn't really notice much of a damage difference; I thought using a 299 chaperone would've put me at a disadvantage (normally use 310 defiance of Yasmin but wanted to test) and there was no difference for which I think was stupid. Reason why? The difference and amount of time spent on grinding for a 310 is a hell of a lot more than a 299. Why? Because even blues can get to 300. Whereas things of a higher level require raid infusions. Enough said. The weapons in my opinion were balanced. I know some peoe are complaining about red death but I still managed to get 3 kd's with a hawkmoon. I just think if one thing that the red death is a friendly weapon to use that's all. Overall though, solid though the rewards could be done a hell of a lot better and you sincerely need to fix the server lag. This 2015. Server lag should be at the bottom of the list

      We need more bounties for it. Three a day just couldn't cut it. Made it a bit more of a grind. It was fun though. Maybe have the IB game mode change between control and rift. Also I feel everything was pretty balanced. The community is finally figuring out how to counter HoS (hint: jump/run). I'd prefer if power levels capped off at a certain point though. I think the recommended light level for IB was 250 or around that. However, someone at 250 going up against someone at 302 stood no chance.

      • Power levels: I am in the top 5% for iron banner according to DTR. As a 299, I was being outgunned by 304s and up. Losing gunfights I normally would not. It was frustrating. I understand the power advantage by those with raid gear, but now there is no alternative. Iron banner gear used to be on par with raid gear which was my motivation for doing it. I used to raid alot but have only done Oryx once. I simply do not have the time (nor the motivation due to a vault full of useless yr1 raid gear) to grind three raids a week to get my light up to be back to top Iron Banner competitiveness. If the IB gear doesn't provide an alternative to raiding, there is no point in striving for it. Drop rates and gear for purchase: I went to rank five on one character. My legendary drops were two sidearms, and the pulse rifle after I already bought it. We used to have the choice of two armor pieces with different stats at the highest levels, and now that is left to RNG. Very much a step in the wrong direction if you want to keep players. Unless you change these and offer some raid quality gear for purchase NOT RNG, I won't be participating in the next one.

        • Hi, I've a question. Maybe someone can provide some answers. So I saw the "damage reduction curve" explaining the level advantage. So my question what if I am level 290 with a 170 gun? The reason I am asking is that I was one shoted by an old sniper. I admit it was a headshot but the weapon lightlevel was 170? Should be that way? I thought even with a high general lightlevel old weapons won't deal much damage? Or am I mistaken? Would love to hear so clarification on that. Thank you in advance

        • Power advantages seem ok for now. Didn't check all that often what level the person was I was battling against. What about loading into matches already in progress? This was the most reoccurring theme for me this week. Not fun at all! There are other improvements needed for IB but this was the most frustrating.

        • The weapons and gear for IB should be at light level 300. The reason being....I'm not gonna take a 280 gun into IB when I have a 307 Hung Jury. Which sucks cause I am excited about these new guns and wanted to use them....

          • Power levels worked fine. I stayed around 300-305, and the gunfights felt fair no matter who I fought. It's the skill-based matchmaking that we need. And Bungie-hosted servers to guarantee a good connection.

                    Power advantage was really interesting. My personal opinion as a 304 was that it was a challenge and a welcomed challenge at that. So thumbs up. The frustrating thing was - The number of people that quit a game 1minute into the match. Seriously got to punish players who do this more than once. HoS - my second toon run was a Titan sun breaker and it was a great joy smashing people to pieces, but it wasn't fair. Happy to switch to a Titan if you don't nerf it though. Damn it was fun. Then the major issue was LOOT DROPS. Poor poor loot drops. I got two toons to lvl 5 and only had a warlock bond drop. Can't think how many games I went through and didn't see anything drop. The other frustrating thing which I feel is fair to say - is the levels on IB gear. The higher level players had all Raid gear. Now I ran the raid with three characters since week 2. Hardly had anything drop. Just shards, shards and more shards. Okay RNG. Not bitching about that or saying I didn't get anything, but if you want players to perform at a fair high standard. Then we can't rely on RNG to determine how strong our toons are. You've got to give PvP players the gear opportunities you give raiders. This is coming from a raider as well. I hope you see all this in your stats though. Look forward to some being published. Edit: the only cheating I came across was laggers. Didn't see one hunter cheat using his SS. So hats off to them players who played it legit.

                      Man, very disappointed in the large amounts of cheating going on. Please, just learn to enjoy the game. You can win this shit without cheating. Even I win sometimes. Drops are bad. Everything you get is randomized, not everything is a gem. Why not just let more drop like strikes? Finally getting rewards is awesome, but banner is not dropping anything!

                      What advantages, the weapons used in iron Banner negate any armour advantage you have. I like to think my Guardian is powerful, which she is for the most part but weapons are the issue here due to imbalance. Red Death can two shot you and instantly regen their health and shields, shotguns take the piss but that's due to map design and the loot is of no use to anyone competing. Edit: Oh and the cheating going on, i hate being DDoS because my team is winning. The lag, cheating, error codes.....come on guys, it's not acceptable.

                    • Drops are just plain bad. Not to mention you guys lie, only drops that were obtainable were what the npc was selling, the wording you used in the patch notes suggested otherwise. Not like you give two shits or will ever read this

                      Fix the connection issues and kick laggy players. When a awful red bar connection player is mvp in a pvp match it makes me question how unreliable the servers are. The laggy guy teleports all around the place and barely takes any damage yet he can kill ya easily. Seriously get some dedicated people to scout games for such behavior.
