People need to stop making topics whining about not getting what they want. Clearly this is everyone's first mmo style game so let me clarify. YOU AREN'T GOING TO GET EVERYTHING YOU NEED ON THE FIRST RUN, OR THE SECOND, PROBABLY NOT THE THIRD EITHER. Mmos are generally about grinding the same content over and over again until you drop the stuff you want. That's what keeps you playing. If you don't like that then stop playing, this kind of game isn't for you. It's that simple.

Shared World Shooter aka not an actual MMO. If you want to speak about similarities then look at Borderlands. Every boss dropped loot and had their own special gun you could try to obtain. Not a Borderlands fan? Then how about Defiance, they had decent loot drops and the multiplayer boss which took 30+ people to beat also dropped loot! Basically if you're gonna compare it to another genre at least use multiple references and not just MMO, MMO & MMO.
-
Then it shouldn't be capped weekly in my opinion there's nothing worse then being told you can't progress until next week. In normal MMO's you can grind and grind until you get what you want so your playing the game and having fun instead of thinking I still don't have the thing I want and I don't have a chance to even try to get it until next week.
-
Not true, World of Warcraft has raid lockouts.
-
Does it stop you from progressing your character if you don't get rewards from the raid? Sorry don't play WoW.
-
Hmm kind of , bosses get progressively harder throughout the raid and you need gear from previous bosses to improve your damage , healing and tanking abilities (dependant on class) for the later stages. A boss will generally drop around 4 pieces of armour/weapons (out of a loot table of say 12 items) that gets split between 10 or 25 people dependant on raid size (25 man raids do drop more items and have bigger loot tables) so sometimes yea your bang out of luck and are waiting weeks/months for specific items, or the item you want will drop but one of your raiding buddy's needs the same item (arguments usually pursue) It's a lot more stat based in a sense that everything you do is recorded and logged so your performance is scrutinised if you're performing badly.
-
But you can level up your character and have him at max level without doing the raid though can't you?
-
Yes you can. But it kinda means nothing you can still be wearing greens at max lvl but your damage output would be appalling and people would look down their nose at you even attempting to do any high lvl content in green rags. All max lvl gear in wow has a gear score so a green would have say a gear score of 100 a epic (legendary equivalent) would be 300+ if you're not geared for the raid you'd just get booted from the group.
-
If they had it like WoW then that would be fine. My problem is the progression is effected by the RNG so reaching max level is an accolade of luck rather than the time and effort you put in. They can still have gear exclusive to the raid everyone can go crazy for but the level cap shouldn't be exclusive to the raid.
-
Yea I get where your coming from, I'm not really a fan of your lvl being attached to your gear but I suppose they have similar gear gateways in all mmo type games, maybe the others are more subtle .
-
Most MMO's only allow you to run each raid once a week.. they just tend to have more raids because the major ones have been around a lot longer. You could always make 3 of the same class and run 3 times a week.
-
Getting something is what should happen, even if it is only from finishing the raid. Getting nothing is not acceptable, as then it just makes the whole raid a complete waste of time.
-
1. Ascendant mats are not "nothing" they're actually very useful 2. He's complaining about not getting raid gear after 4 runs. 4 runs is nothing. That's like 4-6 hours of grinding. If everyone could get to level 30 that easily the game would be pointless. It should be hard, it should require many runs of the same thing. That's the style of the game, if you don't like that then find a different game.
-
Edited by Sean: 10/3/2014 2:25:09 AMProblem is, is that it isn't hard. It's luck and that is it. Combined with that a raid will only give you loot once a week, and that you have to make multiple characters for multiple runs bascially makes its design flawed.
-
Like I keep saying, stop playing then. No one will care.
-
or I can keep "complaining" because of this flawed system, and hope for it to be fixed.
-
It's not flawed, you just don't like it. There's a big difference.
-
If he doesn't like something then it would be a flaw in his eyes so there isn't a difference.
-
Edited by Sean: 10/3/2014 2:46:20 AMIt is flawed if there is a chance of only getting materials which are useless without the gear. It should always give at least one item when you beat it (do everything, and then kill Atheon) to at least give the person the incentive of trying again. Unless they were to let you replay it to get more loot instead of having it restricted to 1 time per character each week (chests should still give nothing though if they are opened a second time in the same week).
-
No, it's not flawed, it's working as intended. You will need those shards eventually I promise you. If you want a game that you play through once and then are done this game isn't for you. Replaying the same stuff until you get the gear you need is the whole point of the game. If you got guaranteed one piece of raid gear every time you played it you would be level 30 and done with the game after one month. It's designed so you need to keep playing, that's the point.
-
I have 85 shards and 90 energies... Yeah... I'd rather get some gear. Since week 1 I've only gotten boots.
-
How can you come here and argue against someone complaining about acquiring raid gear when you have done the raid once and haven't experienced getting bad luck in raids across multiple weeks? Your opinion may change once you get to the point where your stuck at level 29 and can't level up week to week because you can only do the raid once a week.
-
I always expected to do the raid multiple times, but getting only materials really just makes me never want to bother. Even if it just gave me a weapon or something that wasn't materials throughout all 4 of my most recent raids, it would be better. But only getting materials just makes it like I should never do the raid again as it just seems like a waste of time.
-
Like I keep saying, don't do it again. Stop playing, stop polluting the forums with your bs. The community will be grateful. Thanks bye.
-
Why do people gripe at all about whats posted? Everyone paid the same amount for this overhyped piece of crap and the game is broken everywhere. If you dont like the the post, how about YOU quit reading it? Just fanboy yourself back to the basement and enjoy your mind numbing hours of strikes and patrolling.

I legitimately enjoy the game and I come to the forum to talk about the game. What I don't understand is why people who have so many issues and complaints with the game come on here to whine about it. If you don't like it then don't play it. It's that simple. I've bought games that I didn't like before and I just returned them or sold them back to the store and got over it. I don't understand why so many people on here can't do that.
