Raids Need Matchmaking

First off, I have a good size friends list. Of that list I have around 10 - 15 that are planning on getting Destiny. So even without matchmaking I will manage to raid. However I do have a pro matchmaking argument. I would like to expand my friends list with people who have a passion for playing Destiny and wanting to raid. My current friends list is composed of people who, guess what, I met through some sort of matchmaking in game. I rather not go to some third party medium to find people to do raids with when matchmaking will achieve the same process. There is no guarantee that the people you decide to team up with from the third party medium will be good or capable of raiding anymore that matchmaking. What I see matchmaking as, is a social tool of meeting new people who like to participate in activities that I do. Furthermore, once you have comprised a good list of "Destiny friends" or can forgo matchmaking all together. This is the console crowd. Going back to my statement of my friends list is composed of people I have met in game via matchmaking. I could pull some arbitrary percentage number out of my butt, however I have no documentation to back it up. But I am willing to bet that most of you people reading this have friends list comprised the exact same way. This isn't a PC, "One does not simply Alt-Tab on a console into some forum looking for raid members". What if Halo, COD, Battlefield, (insert your favorite multi-player console game) had no matchmaking? Would you want to be forced to go to a third party medium to play the game? A third party medium of finding friends/raid members would/does work fantastic on a PC. However the majority, if not all, of socializing, befriending, team making on consoles is done in game. Last thing I want to point out. Luke Smith said in the raiding video, there are no class slot requirements for raiding, "all of your jobs is to shoot guys". Which from what I gather has been the biggest problem with matchmaking for raiding in the past, as in having competent Tanks or Healers. As I see it there are not many downsides of having matchmaking for raids. Anyone feel free to correct me in grammar, spelling, information or if you think I am completely off base on this subject. Arrrgggh da interwebs....

  • But the raid is sooo hard cant be beaten with random people... No seriously, it really needs a matchmaking system. Maybe the game should just check if everyone has a mic plugged in since communication is needed but other than that i see no reason why it shouldnt work. The longer the raid is out, the less people dont know its mechanics. Once you know them its doable, even in random teams
