Looks a lot like a micro transaction opportunity to me. And I wouldn't mind them making a few bucks on it as it really is not a big deal for me since all I can do is change my head in very minimal ways that is only seen in the anti-social Tower social hub. Activision/Blizzard did this with WoW. I could easily see it happening here as a cosmetic micro transaction (along with purchasable ghost shells, sparrow skins, ship skins, weapon skins, exclusive shaders, etc. that don't effect game play and progression.).

  • Oh please don't give them any reason to think "micro-transaction"! We shouldn't have to pay real world money to simply change a characters appearance! This should be an option upon purchase! Come on bungie!

You haven't been paying attention then. Activision/Blizzard did this exact thing with the addition of the "Barber" micro transaction for WoW about 5 years ago. They gave everyone the first shot for free that had the game. From then on it was some nickel and dime fee and a pure profit generator. Totally optional and cosmetic only. With Activision involved and Bungie pretty much saying that would happen, you have to know that this will be a micro transaction.

  • Microtransactions will ruin Destiny.. If exotics become available in the store then everybody will buy them.. They should just stick to glimmer or this one

  • The key here is cosmetic items. Not game changing micro transactions.

  • Yeah...but at the same time, I really don't think we need them to have "micro transactions" on their brains. That provides a possibility of opening a floodgate later on. I'd rather have the game completely free of it and use it's own currency.

  • You think they are not thinking "micro transaction" when they don't have a subscription? I think that is pretty naive.

  • There's no reason to even think a subscription fee is reasonable. Whatever anyone says this game at its core is not an mmo and shouldn't be treated as one. There isn't a stream of fresh content that gives them a right to charge us a sub fee. All the game events so far have been old content just with new challenging skulls on. Last time i checked that isn't new content and from what I heard we wont be getting any new areas to explore until the first expansion which wont come out until at least December. (That's at least 4 months without brand new content) so they don't need a sub fee, they are just having us pay on a per expansion basis. Also without drastic changes to the amount of customization we have available to us, I really don't think it is reasonable to put a real market value on a haircut. Besides, If you really wanted to you could bypass the fee by moving all your gear in the bank and starting from scratch. As players we just want convenience and a sub fee would outright ruin it.

  • This game has significant ongoing maintenance and operations costs in addition to continuous content development. Personally I prefer cosmetic micro transactions over subscriptions and they have to generate revenue somewhere. And no, DLC will not cover ongoing maintenance and operations and yield a profit.

  • OHhdon't get me wrong, I'm sure they thought of it from the start. But as a player, I don't want them to see me say that "I'm cool with it."
