http://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Dev-Notes/en/News/News?aid=12188 I have to say, they have experienced and at least seen some of the things we were talking about. It's nice to see them making some changes. But they are slow to come, as it is with any MMO-style game. Console gamers, really, MMO's take forever to get to a balanced place and even then, they don't ever always please everyone. Be patient, I have a really good feeling about Destiny in the months to come. (this game really isnt intended for entitled millennials, they dont understand "working for rewards" ...seems "i tried, i deserve better for trying" is the attitude. I like the notes. I'm excited to see what else is coming. Now, can i go home boss, I'd very much like to run 25 strikes for Bad Juju...and then let it sit in my vault until the buff it. LOL.
i agree with you say but whats with the whole "entitled millennials" comment... I assume you mean kids but millennials are people that are young adults, mostly 20-30. There is nothing wrong with this demographic in gaming, and as a 18 year old gamer, on the younger side of the millennial generation, I am kind of offended. In the gaming community, the ones that get the bad rep are the "12 year olds" the generic age that labels every offensive kid that are playing games they're too young for. These kids aren't millennials, they are part of the current, unnamed generation, or generation Z until it gets an actual name.

Firstly, I'm sorry you feel offended. The comment was not directed at you personally. Perhaps you are more mature, and well adjusted than the vocal majority of your peers. Sometimes people will say things you don't agree with, no reason to get offended if it wasn't directed at you personally. Secondly, kids, the "12 year olds" who scream and swear, they are simply annoying and don't understand gaming, let alone life and that sometimes bullshit happens, and you just have to deal with it; but I wholeheartedly meant entitled Millenials. The term Millenials is a very generalized term and for sure not all 20-30 year olds playing this or any other game have that feeling of entitlement. However, it is important to note i did state "entitled Millenials" not simply Millenials, and yes, I meant them. They paid their money so their THING, whatever it is, should work EXACTLY the way they want it, and get what they want from it IMMEDIATELY because, well...i havent the faintest. Shitty parenting, social issues? who knows. So yes, all the bitching and moaning about not getting what they want when they want it, when this game is in it's infancy basically, are entitled and the demographic is basically that 14-30 age range, so Millenials. Just because the THING (in this case a game) doesn't net the experience wanted the second it's wanted, doesn't mean it isn't there, or unachievable, just means it has to be worked for, and effort needs to be put forth. I don't know you, and maybe you are as well reasoned and mature as you're first reply indicates, and to be honest most of my in game experiences with 18-30 year olds have been primarily positive, it was a comment on the attitudes here in the forums, and socially speaking as well, that there is an epidemic of entitlement that goes beyond real life and into video games, which is bad for our medium.

  • Except I disagree. Your pulling the fact that the people complaining are millennials completely Out of your ass. You have no way of knowing how old they are. Most rant posts i see Though turn quickly to trolls and "I banged your mom" comments, clear and blatant signs of them being those pesky 12 year old gamers. By your reasoning, people are entitled millennials simply because they bought the game And want everything immediately, but when I was 10, i bought my own video games and when i'm 40 I'll be buying my own video games. Your writing on a forum, mean writing should be important. Whether it is or isn't generalizations are a terrible habit. Lets be honest for a second. Your audience truly isn't the "entitled millennials" you write to because if they are how you say they are, they dont care. Your audience is people like me, people willing to and wanting to actually carry out a civilized conversation and people like me just see you as another pointless ranter when you make stupid generalizations like that. I agree though, it is the entitled people, whether they're 12, 25, or 45 that are a problem in this game's community.
Your pulling the fact that the people complaining are millennials completely Out of your ass. You have no way of knowing how old they are.
Educated guess based on the target demographic of video games, i will concede I actually don't know how old they are though.
...and "I banged your mom" comments, clear and blatant signs of them being those pesky 12 year old gamers
or just immature people. They are out there.
By your reasoning, people are entitled millennials simply because they bought the game
not true. People behaving like entitled brats makes them entitled. People in their 20's and early 30's makes them Millenials. The two are mutually exclusive. I will say that yes, I am assuming that the majority of people complaining are the 20-30 year olds who what they want when they want it. You disagree. That's ok. I'm not saying ALL 20-30 year olds behave this way. Just the majority of voices on these forums.
when I was 10, i bought my own video games and when i'm 40 I'll be buying my own video games
thats awesome! Good for you! I have been playing since I was 5...my parents bought my video games though until I was like 16 I think. But, those were the 80's and 90's..different times. (I'm 37 dont worry about the math lol)
Your writing on a forum, mean writing should be important. Whether it is or isn't generalizations are a terrible habit
should be important yes. So, and I still stand by it. Entitled Millenials. Not all Millenials feel entitled, and not people who feel entitled are millenials....oooohhh....i see what you did there...clever boy.
Your audience truly isn't the "entitled millennials" you write to because if they are how you say they are, they dont care. Your audience is people like me, people willing to and wanting to actually carry out a civilized conversation and people like me just see you as another pointless ranter when you make stupid generalizations like that.
My audience? I didnt even consider that. I just wrote it and posted. I suppose I was looking for someone to agree with me and say that the feeling of entitlement represented on these forums for this game is bad. I can see how the Millenials comment may have been a low blow bit of trolling....
I agree though, it is the entitled people, whether they're 12, 25, or 45 that are a problem in this game's community.
Well shit! Finally! :P
