What I am pretty sure that it means is that they think that the Cryptarch's crappy rng was a good thing because it "developed his character and gave him a personality" and that they were going to better inform people of the chances to actually get the same color loot as your engram which as of right now are at deplorably low levels

  • That would be a nice addition, I would like to know the numbers before I go to decrypt something. It may lessen the blow of getting a blue from a purple, which rarely drops in the first place.

  • I'm not 100% sure about this so don't quote me on it but I remember reading somewhere(not on the forums, from somewhere credible) that it was something like you had a 10% chance or less to get one the same color that was dropped and it starts off higher as you have white engrams but gets progressively lower the higher the rarity

  • 10% percent seems a little off. 8 out 10 blue engrams I find decrypt into blue items, but if it is that low I'm hoping that is one of the fixes they were alluding to in their notes.

  • I'm sorry I didn't clarify by what I meant. I meant to say that it's 10% for legendary engrams not necessarily for blue ones. That's my bad.

  • Ahh. That makes sense now. So the percentage is lower for legendary engrams decrypting into legendary items because they are rarer?

  • And I'm pretty sure that I'm right because even though I've gotten over 10 different pieces of legendary engrams I have still yet to get any legendary gear

  • Yes that's what I believe. Like decoding a white engram will almost certainly give you a white piece of gear with maybe a green thrown in there one out of every ten times. And a green engram will give you a green piece of gear sometimes with whites interspersed and a blue if you're lucky etc etc...

  • I seen something the other day ill try to find. Blue engrams are like 3% chance legendary 67% rare and 30% common. And legendary engrams are like 4% exotic 12% legendary 72% rare and 12% uncommon. Ill see if i can find the post to get exact percentages

  • http://www.kotaku.com.au/2014/09/these-people-tried-to-figure-out-how-destinys-loot-system-works/ my nubers are off a little but you still have less chance to get legendary from purple engram than you do a rare.

  • About the numbers thing as well I was a bit right because you have a 1 in three chance of getting a piece of gear for your class so it is really a 10% chance.(number only applies to armor piece though)

  • Yea it would be nice to roll only your class or 90% chance your class

  • Nice article. Its good to see some solid numbers, can we just up that purple engram to 40 or 45% decrypt rate? That would be nice.
