I honestly can't believe this game took 5 years and 500 million dollars to make?
You know what else took 5 years to make? Skyrim, and Bethesda Game Studios is a third the size of Bungie, not to mention I bet their publisher gave them much less money.

But they were focused on one location. Of course you can load one region with a ton of shit to explore and do. That and the fact exploring is part of the Oblivion series. Destiny was never touted as an exploration game. Wait for No Man's Sky if that is what you want.
-
Isn't Skyrim just one massive empty world with maybe 5 enemies in any given spot spaced very very very far apart?
-
-
Are you sure on that? Because I remember walking half way across the map and encountering maybe 10 enemies, one was a random dragon.
-
Well next time go all the way and you might see 20 and 2 dragons. And I think someone forgot to count mudcrabs.
Are you sure on that? Because I remember walking half way across the map and encountering maybe 10 enemies, one was a random dragon.
Maybe if you make it a point to ignore everything else that actually happens, sure.

Edited by Xenolithium: 9/21/2014 3:20:06 PMLike what? A random guy running down the road and forcing you into a dialogue screen demanding money, or asking you to hold onto something?
Like what? A random guy running down the road and forcing you into a dialogue screen demanding money, or asking you to hold onto something?
That, or stumbling across an old beaten road to the side that trails off into a camp of enemies. Or the dragons. Or the roaming caravans. Or the myriad of smaller settlements between the large cities that are hubs for side quests. There's also the enormous amount of mods and community support. But sure, it's just some guy wanting money.

Ohhhh, you're talking about the PC version, to make a console game not look like it has much going for it. Gotcha.
-
You already lost.
-
Did I? How so?
-
Cause you are an idiot if u think Skyrim (for PC or console) was "empty" its only empty if you point your camera straight down and literally ignore everything
-
The world is empty, still beautiful, but empty.

Edited by VerbalTachi: 9/21/2014 2:59:00 PMSure but if they had gone that route then we'd get one big open land game to play or else we'd have to wait 10 plus years if they created areas as big as Skyrim for each planet. I'd rather they expand the areas for each planet via expansions and add more story missions rather than explore one big open land like Skyrim then wait another 5 years for them to release the next planet.
-
Edited by mrwazzabi: 9/21/2014 6:41:43 PMI'd rather have 1 big open world with cities and villages to explore and individual dungeons vs 4 planets that each have 10 missions on the same small@ss map.

Edited by BlackHawkDrunk: 9/21/2014 2:47:41 PMDestiny did NOT cost $500M to make. That number is the estimated cost for the entire franchise over a projected 10 year span. It includes the budgets for 4 games, all DLC & advertising. And Skyrim is one of the buggiest games of all time, especially at launch...
-
Yet despite its bugs it outshines Destiny in review scores and feedback. I can also say with confidence that Destiny will not win many GOTY awards.
-
They spent a huge chunk of that 500m on advertising.
-
Edited by Conniving Eagle: 9/21/2014 2:48:00 PMUntil you can pull up a source that states how much they spent of advertising I call bullshit. If you ever do, that was their (Bungie/Activision's) decision; the consequences are on them.
-
Edited by AJedi13: 9/21/2014 5:06:24 PMYup. The consequences are dire. So dire in fact, that they already made back their entire investment. Oh.. heres a source for you... so you dont have to google of course http://www.gamespot.com/articles/destiny-revenue-hits-500-million-in-24hrs/1100-6422231/

You should have just googled it. Now there's egg on your face. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/activision-investing-500-million-for-bungie-s-destiny/1100-6419444/
