I obtained the Grim Citizen III auto rifle from an engram. Best weapon I have at the moment and it is terrible to behold. It's very much like a machine gun insomuchas it has a moderate impact with a heavy damage and you can reduce the recoil by like 50% (on the one I have, that perk might change). That is awesome! Have you tried the mid range scope? How is it with enemies at a distance? I have a titan and a hunter. I planned on using it with my hunter. Do you think it's worth spending crucible points on? Or should I hope to get it off a drop and buy other legendary pieces?

If you want it, I would say it's worth the buy. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I didn't get it from the engram and I like it a lot better. I prefer the Steadyhand IS sight, but the scope sight is alright too. It is better for engaging enemies at a distance, and getting the zoom, as you'd expect. I don't like to keep it on for long though. Also I love how you can have either the increased stability, or you can change it so that holding the weapon gives you +2 agility. The agility bonus helps when I'm running around a lot, and I can switch my Titan abilities around to give me lots of agility, so I'm fast and tough. It works out pretty well.
