Having read the article I think it's a case of personal choice. There are a lot of gamers that are happy to plod along through a game at a slow pace and there are those that do everything they can to complete games in the quickest time possible. You also have to take into account individual players abilities, for example I do not consider myself as an expert gamer therefore I do not expect to get to level 20 for another couple of sessions yet.
Another thing to take into account as stated in the article is the amount of available playing time people get due to different lifestyles.
I think it's a good way to play the game as it encourages people to make the effort to talk to like minded gamers and for players to help others get through the game.
Whilst trying to get members for this group I noticed a lot of people posting asking for high ability players to join their clan for the same reason, to get to raid level.
If you take a look at the clan forums online I'm sure you won't have much trouble finding players to raid with.
Please don't take offence this is after all only my opinion.

Edited by goliagen: 9/15/2014 4:36:37 PMMy issue is I don't want to spend countless hours browsing forums for people who might be able to do those "Friend only" strikes. I have a huge problem with there being zero tools within the game itself to coordinate with clan members and friends. Joining a clan shouldn't mean that I have to dork around on a PC or tablet to find people to do stuff with. I should be able to coordinate with clan members and friends more effectively in game. A few of us in the clan were trying all weekend to do the weekly heroic strike, which requires you to make a group of 3 players in a "Friend only" fireteam, and we just couldn't coordinate. I've tried using the wall here, but my PC is in another room and tablet doesn't alert to wall messages. I realize we could set up a time/day to get things done on the forums here, but if we had the tools in game to communicate we probably could have gotten more things done as a clan based fireteam since several of us were online at once. I don't want to be discourteous and join into someones fireteam while they're doing a mission unless I know that for sure I won't bother them. I also don't mind that others don't have a mic, but I can't hear people screaming from a continent away when I ask if they want to do something. People are pretty much forced to have a mic if we want to coordinate in game at all. If there was some sort of tool like a flag system that we could use to indicate that a person is available for crucible, vanguard, bounties, etc., that would be a good start. But I'm looking for something robust enough in game that would let me chat easily with clan members, friends, and local players somehow without having to jump through the hoops of joining fireteams.

Sorry I misunderstood your original post and didn't notice anything about in game clan notification in the article. I'm sure I have seen this issue raised in the help & feedback forums too. Yes I agree in game notification and more tools would be great. I do find it annoying if you want to play alone for a bit only to find that someone has joined your fire team without your knowledge.
