Totally agree! Boss mechanics are very much lacking. Just feels like 'shoot this, don't die, watch the adds' with no real break, changes or advantage time.
I agree with Sepiks Prime. A good fair boss. I actually think the Fallen Walker mini-boss (if you can call it that) before is just as good. Has a charging blue laser volley, spawns a few Shanks (rests while doing so as far as I remember) and has a mighty missile launcher with a 2 second warning that 'everything near where I'm pointing is going straight to hell.' It's fair! If you're not paying attention or if you react too slowly, you die. It even has a point where it stops attacking and exposes a weakness when damaged a certain amount. MECHANICS!
The Nexus boss is by far the most annoying. Even something like him dropping his shield and halting his attack to summon more minions would be nice, a calm before the storm situation with the choice of either getting more attacks in or preparing for the minions he spawns.
So much potential but I think it will happen in time.

The thing is, the Devil's lair got nerfed after the beta test. The laser missiles blast radius got drastically smaller, meaning it is simple enough to just double jump off to the side and escape it without a scratch. Before the laser cannon was an omen of death, now you just hover away and watch a red semi circle expand some distance away from you. Also, I know Sepiks is the first strike boss, but he's also ludicrously easy. You see the charge up and you're already in cover, and that absorbs the hits. The only time i've ever seen Sepiks kill someone is through their own stupidity, rather than Sepiks ability (such as standing right in front of him with a shotgun, not getting into cover etc). The other bosses actually manage to score kills against the players themselves because they don't telegraph their attacks like Sepiks does.

Edited by Praius: 9/15/2014 12:05:07 PMI've heard the Fallen Walker had a bug with its health in the beta. Lol. I actually wouldn't have minded the original AOE from the shot I recon (I never played it then) at least you get a warning. I don't actually like dying from cheap tricks though such as bosses shooting bolts at the corner of the cover as AOE hits you anyway though moving further in will cause the other cannon to get you. I feel you should die from a boss because of your own mistakes and slow reflexes. Fallen Walker is probably the best (mini)boss for that. I do feel Sepiks Prime is fairly easy but I'd rather that than the Archon Priest with his constant BOOM BOOM BOOM, flanking warps and stream of minions. Why not have him drop down a beacon summoning assistance and the longer it's there the more adds he gets? Just something to give us a chance of not getting totally overwhelmed! It's just getting the balance right...

The lack of telegraphing for summons is a bit suckish. Especially in the Archon priest fight where you get swamped by Stealth Vandals. Watch the radar, watch the radar... I don't really mind the fact it flank warps. Seems like a pretty fair boss tactic to me. I mean, regular captains warp, but not quite like that, so it kind of makes it unique.
