It's all about network security on campus. WoW has been around long enough that the makers of hardware firewalls are fairly fimaliar with their destination IP address in the packets that are sent out. Destiney being new is sending unknown destiniation information in the packet layers. If you really want to blame some one, blame the idiots on campus that use torrents and steal as much music and videos as they can. That security is in place to prevent that sort of access. Bungie would essential have to find a away to make the game work like a malware worm to tunnel around the firewall there by openning the university to the threat of hacking and loss of personal information such as your ssn that could then allow your identity to be stollen. You really don't understand the issue at hand. Move off campus and get your own connection and network to manage and theres no problem. On a side note, most network admins will install what ever firmware updates that are needed to their devices, and I'm sure there will be other stuff bundled along with the fix for Bungie, so there's no reason they won't do it.

This is an issue that's been around going back to the alpha, it was known back then, and it should have been addressed back then as that's the point of an alpha and a beta test. No other game has this issue. It's something that should have been researched beforehand, and then addressed before release. Fixing the servers prior to launch would have been much easier than having to tell thousands of students to tell their IT departments what to do, and hoping that they do it. When a company makes a product it is their responsibility to make sure it works for consumers, or that at the very least that it is made apparent that the product might not work for everyone. Bungie made no attempt to do that, and still hasn't really said much on the matter after four days at all. I don't blame students who pirate music, I don't blame my IT department, I don't blame my school, I blame Bungie. It was their job to make a game that would work well, it was their job to inform people that this could happen and why, it was their job to come up with a fix for it, and it's their job to keep people up to date on this. The only real acknowledgement we've received is a tweet and forum post. Now, normally I wouldn't be upset, except for the fact that I spent $100 on a game, that I had no way of knowing would not work when I got back to my dorm. So now, I am mad.

By the way, I am using a home internet connection not a campus or shared one.
-
I dont think anyone understands that it sure hell aint just university modems/routers/ IP's whatever..... its happening all across the nation in people's personal homes with their personal connections and internet AKA comcast, like myself im having the problem as well and im not even near a school campus so dont open mouth unless you have ALL FACTS.
-
Again:.. based on the security of the network infrastructure. "im having the problem as well and im not even near a school campus so dont open mouth unless you have ALL FACTS." These things mean that it's the fault of your network configuration. If it is the fault of your ISP, there would be more reports. Even as I cannot verify that one way or another, the fault stops either at your network or your ISP.

Nope I refuse to belive the blame lies with us... the blame lies with the makers or an unplayable game... and then they try to pass the buck onto my router... sorry not acceptable

Edited by elderp0ptart: 9/13/2014 5:22:24 AMim not trying to be rude or argumentative, however it does sound like that. Im just frustrated with bungie and now, you, my good sir, telling me its something on my end when in reality this is untrue.

Edited by elderp0ptart: 9/13/2014 5:20:55 AMmy man my NAT is one my IP is static and my router modem cost me nearly 300 dollars im pretty positive it aint on my end. nuff said and IM not the only one with the same setup still having the problem. that would lead a reasonable person to believe that the problem is not of their own making
-
But why should we have to change so many things on our routers just to make the game work its just stupid
-
i agree thats my argument i even changed the stuff it still didn't work that tells me one thing, bungie needs to do more than that sad excuse for a patch because it still hasn't worked.
