The Defender codex is easily the better subclass. It's the ultimate support class. Unfortunately, it's only useful if you're in a fireteam or in PVP. Striker is decent (I liked it), but it's not as cool as the hunter. Bladedancer and Gunslinger are both fairly versatile classes, equally good for both solo and coop play. But the Defender Codex is unbeatable in a team, really. I'd say that if you're going to consistently be in a fireteam, choose Titan. If you're more of a lone wolf, go hunter.

Edited by RH Stealth: 9/8/2014 11:51:29 PMI'm not so concerned as to what is necessarily "better". I want to choose what will be the most fun for me. I like being stealthy, I like sniping, I like the look of the Hunter more... But that Defender shield! (I do have a couple friends that should be getting it tomorrow, but when I play it won't always be with them)

Fair enough. I liked the Titan, personally. I have kind of a weird play style. I've got three ranges: melee, long range, and superlong range. Basically, I've got a scout rifle, a max-zoom sniper, and my fists. For me, Fist of Havok wasn't the right super. Neither are Bladedancer and Golden Gun. But that Ward of Dawn... Perfect. You do what you think is best, but for me, the Defender Codex is perfect. It seems fun and unique, offering a super that is more than just an explosion.

I only played the Hunter in the beta. The golden gun didn't seem all that fun to me, and the Bladedancer's super seems meh to me. The Ward of Dawn though, mmmmm yes. But the Bladedancer has invisibility...

I definitely think Bladedancer would be fun. Blink, invisibility- it's a lot like Dishonored. But I feel like it'd lose some of its appeal after a while. That's why I'm starting with a Titan, gathering some great equipment, then going back and starting a Hunter. I figure I'll always have my Titan, and I can play around with Bladedancer when I want something different.
