Anyone else got any other ideas?
Most of the people who post in the wrong forum aren't trying to be malicious or disruptive, they're often new members who just aren't used to the way this forum is divided up into its respective categories. Especially in the case of #Gaming, it's easy to see how they could make that mistake as the description of the forum reads "Gaming: Make Friends. Play Games", which doesn't quite convey the nuance that #Gaming is for non-Destiny gaming discussion. People merely looking to find friends to play with might not want a Clan, and it's easy to see why they'd gravitate towards #Gaming as a result even though their thread should probably go in #Clans or perhaps #Destiny instead.
The problem unfortunately isn't going to go away any time soon, with Destiny coming out we're going to get boat loads of new members who are going to make the exact same mistakes as everyone else. The best thing to do is to politely inform them of their mistake and direct them towards the right place. Hopefully they'll remember it in the future.

Could a description of each section of the forums be added to the banner? The new members should notice this at least.

I'm not a member of the web team, but I would think that adding a forum description to the banner at the top of the forum would lead to unnecessary clutter. As I said, the problem is with the "Gaming: Make Friends. Play Games" description that appears in the drop down when you are choosing which forum to put your new thread in. If memory serves that description is from all the way back from when we transitioned to Bungie.next in January 2013, back then we didn't have #Clans or #Destiny and #Gaming existed for not only off topic game discussion but also to be a place for the community to come together and play during the Darkness. As it doesn't exactly serve that purpose explicitely anymore, and as it has lead to a lot of confusion for our newest members, I think changing it to something more clear that conveys the purpose of the forum would be a good idea. If you'd like to make a suggestion thread in #Help about it, I'd be happy to support it.

Do your job and move them to where they belong then.

Actually after seeing your thread yesterday I have spent some extra time monitoring #Gaming for Destiny related topics.

I never knew why Forum Ninjas (and now Mentors) never had a set schedule for who would be available to monitor what forum at what time. Think of it as a sign up sheet for a community carnage or another game day, but daily. And to make sure that all of the forums are monitored at all times, why not have a large enough force for it? This might be a double post. Damn app.

I can't speak for the Ninjas or how they choose to moderate the website, but for the Mentors our primary role isn't to make sure that every thread goes in the right forum. We're not moderators, our abillity to move threads is more of a learning tool to help teach new members which forum to put their topics in while simultaneously solving the immediate problem. As a result, a schedule for a round the clock coverage doesn't seem necessary, especially since having a few recruitment threads in the wrong forum isn't exactly a crisis that needs to be immediately responded to, it's just a bit of a minor annoyance. All the same, I can understand your guy's frustrations and I'm happy to put a little extra effort into keeping #Gaming relatively clear :)
