Are you talking about a semi-auto in addition to the hand cannon?
Actually, I like the revolver only. It gives destiny a nice little touch from other main stream FPS. It has an old west/dark towers meld to it. If semi-autos were added...it would distract from the games gunslinger personality IMO.

I think you have a good point, and I've thought about it a lot... handcannons feel like that exclusive single handed weapon which defines a guardian. However, I think we need another side arm as a special... as of now, shotgun, sniper, fusion rifle feels really underwhelming. I think having a high rof semi-auto or full auto special weapon would encourage more scout/pulse rifle players.

That is a point. In that instance...how about a micro-smg variant similar to the MAC-10 or Uzi. That way you get the special small arms and still maintain the nostalgia of the revolver.

Exactly! I feel at a loss of how I'd normally play this type of game without a SMG to default to. As of right now, the Sahara is the closest thing I've got... I think that in some weird way, Scout Rifles are supposed to be like really colossal pistols (given their build) built for semi-auto accurate distance. But yes... A special slot SMG/Auto-pistol would feel great and add a lot. What about the idea of adding rail-guns or charged energy weapons for the heavy slot?

I could see that...but with a pulse rifle already present (similar to rail/energy weap) it might be a bit of overkill. If a heavy was to be added...then I say go with a portable mini-gun similar to the Cabal. When I think mini-gun and a horde of thrall...the attached game intro comes to mine. :) Never know what bungie might add in the future episodes. We could get a whole new sub-set somewhere down the line.

Yeah, they sure left it wide open didn't they... Here's hoping either way. My worry is that they'll only create different weapons for existing categories and not bother to build any new weapon categories until the next installment of the franchise--given how Halo has handled DLC in the past. Miniguns would be epic though; it would defeat the purpose of the LMG OR it would force them to do the smart thing and make the LMG a special instead of a heavy like they should be.
