If we will have two PS4's playing Destiny in the same household should I anticipate any problems with connecting to one another due to utilizing the same IPs? If so, what steps need to be taken to prevent this?

Yes. Assign manual connections to them with 2 different static IPs. http://portforward.com/networking/static-ip-ps4/ then place them in your routers DMZ (google your model and how to) finally turn off UPnP on your router Problem solved

Depends on your internet speed and distance to router. Use a wired connection if possible.
