We know now that you can save your progress occasionally, and saved progress and loot drops reset every Tuesday.
My plan is to play from Sept. 9th Tuesday until the next Tuesday (Sept. 16th), and hope that within that week I can give it a shot. Start with my team on Tuesday the moment it resets, and take small breaks at each save point.
Having a good team and communication is key.
After beating it on normal, you unlock the hard mode. We will start the hard mode the following Tuesday when it resets again.

Sorry buddy, but if you been following the news, you will not be getting to the raid until you reach level 20. They stated it's end game content. Also that the game really opens up at level 20. In other words everybody body will have to go through the story before you even consider doing a raid. Go ahead research it yourself, See you star side fellow Guardian.

You're right, and my timeline is probably off a bit haha. My plan is basically to do the story, then side missions, strikes and bounties, nightfall activities (if available at the time) and really get a feel for the game while developing my character and the dynamic with my team. Then when we are ready to attempt the Vault of Glass, make sure we start it on a Tuesday so we have as much time as possible to finish it before the next Tuesday. I'm hoping we can reach level 20 by the end of the first week, but we also have to keep in mind that level is not enough... we need decent gear, as well as characters who have all their subclass abilities unlocked and effective builds.

For my friends and I we plan on beating strikes on hard mode first then go into the raid on normal mode. Once we beat it a few times or everyone has their sets we will move on to the hard mode of the raid. The road to the finish line is a marathon not a sprint, at least for us anyways.

Yeah, I agree... in my opinion, going in unprepared just to try and be the first is just going to be a waste of time.

Good idea!
