Over the last few years, some things seem more and more apparent. The former identity of the flood has moved on to become an entirely different animal. It's seems the days of tight cliques has evolved into a state of every man for themselves. There is no unity in our current state. There is no "the flood vs everyone else" mentality any longer. And that comes with its good and bad side effects.
Don't get me wrong, plenty of the shenanigans from previous flood generations was pretty goddam stupid. But then again.. some of it was pretty damn hilarious and completely awesome. And it was those brief moments of awesome that made this place worth coming back to and being a part of. It's why this forum has lasted this long. Ever look around other game developer's offtopic forums? They suck, huh?
So rather than turning this into a "shit was better back in..." thread, I instead ask you fine folks to tell me where we are right now. What separates us from other forums around the net? What about us deserves recognition from the outside? What have we created that will have people telling stories about 10 years from now on this forum?
Anything?
And perhaps it's okay to be just another offtopic forum. Perhaps everyone's more than happy to sit around regurgitating 4chan memes and reddit topics. Ignoring threads of substance and creativity for popularity threads and religious debate. Maybe we just really enjoy surrounding ourselves with people we despise and shitting on the floors of a house we don't care about.
But maybe not.
Curious to hear everyone's answer to this.

Love this post, by the way. Our current identity is that which was left for us. We call ourselves the Flood. But to other OffTopic forums we are the forum where shit happened, and might happen again.
